Last year we went to OMH the day before Thanksgiving. I know there were similar events elsewhere that night too.

Anyone know of any events taking place in NYC this year?

Top Hops just posted their event details. Looks like only '16 BCBS and Barleywine this year:

It's here! Once again, Top Hops is your NY home for the 2016 bottle release for Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout.

    How it will work:
    - At 9 AM we will open doors and begin selling BCBS 2016 bottles.
    - Customers waiting on the line outside of Top Hops will receive a numbered wristband based on your line position.
    - You will receive a purchase form corresponding with your wristband number. We will collect these forms and when you make it into the store, your order will be ready for pick up.
    - The following are strict limits on purchases per person:
2 Cases, plus 2 bottles Barley Wine, plus 1 bottle each of any other variants or bottles from previous years.
    - This event page will be updated with final pricing ahead of Black Friday.
    - Top Hops will close once the line has cleared. We'll re-open at NOON for regular bar service with a whole slew of BCBS on tap as part of a Goose Island Tap Takeover, including a vertical tasting flight (BCBS 13, 14, 15, and 16). Full tap list TBA.

    FAQ:
Q: Is the beer good to go this year?
A: Yes, Goose Island will be releasing Bourbon County Stout on Black Friday

    Q: What are the variants?
A: The 2016 BCBS variants are Original & Barleywine

Q: So, there isn’t a national Rye variant?
A: Due to Goose Island's increased QA methods, they decided to focus on original this year. The barrels they intended for Rye this year weren’t ready for extraction when they tasted them, so those are continuing to age.

Q: Why are there fewer variants?
A: They scaled back variants to focus on our quality assurance methods

Q: Will someone be on hand to manage the line and make sure there is no cutting?
A: We like to think all of our customers can be civil and responsible, but we will have someone on hand to manage the crowd overnight.

Q: Can we drink outside while we wait for the doors to open?
A: Drinking on public property isn't legal in New York. Please be mindful of the law and our neighbors.

Q: Will anything else be open in the neighborhood?
A: We're in discussions with a few businesses on the block to staff up to support your early morning coffee and snack needs. We will also have some snacks and such available as in previous years.

Q: Will there be bathroom access for people in line?
A: We're working on resolving this and should have a definitive answer shortly.

Bummer. If it will be more of the same at other places (regular and barleywine only), which could very well be the case, then this is will be pretty uneventful. I guess I will just buy bottles after the craze dies down and they become available by the case, much like last year.

BCBS is so ubiquitous, these hardly qualifies as an event any more. Will people really be lining up early for this? And what about BCBCS?

So are we expecting any coffee to hit NYC? Some other threads suggest the yield on that is really low this year. Surprised Top Hops wouldn't have any of it if it was bottled at all- they got Rare last year.

According to the Top Hops FAQ in the post by @MosaicDrops (see above ), there won't be any coffee this year, just regular and barleywine:

    Q: What are the variants?
A: The 2016 BCBS variants are Original & Barleywine

Q: So, there isn’t a national Rye variant?
A: Due to Goose Island's increased QA methods, they decided to focus on original this year. The barrels they intended for Rye this year weren’t ready for extraction when they tasted them, so those are continuing to age.

I'm not confused about TH having coffee, but anybody in NYC getting it. The beer definitely exists, at least according to a Chicago Tribune tasting late last month.

Damn that was fast- the evil Brooklyn supermarket just put regular and BW bottles up on Beer Menus, in case anyone wants to get a head start on their collection.

I wonder if the Coffee being so limited this year that TH decided to not announce they will have it for sale, but I'd be shocked if they didn't have any whatsoever

Last year they said they'd sell me one BCBCS at their marked up value if I purchased a case of regular BCBS or $100 worth of goose island beer. I passed.

It's been well documented and from first hand personal experience the individual in charge of the beer plays nonstop games with special releases. Buy X amount of this shelf beer to get 1 of these special release beers. In my experience this individual also isn't the best to deal with and I always seemed to feel like I was bothering said person. The distributors must love this place tho, it seems to be the very first stop for every single beer that is released in NYC. Their BeerMenus is never correct either, makes it feel like one big bait and switch deal.

In February I went to WF in Manhattan and there were stacks of BCBS. It was $9.99 a bottle and they were having 20% of beer that day, so got as much as I could fit in my backpack for $8 a bottle. No reason to overpay for this stuff.

By chance, are you talking about Brooklyn Harvest Market? Because they tried to pull that shit on me multiple times with various other beers.

They're still around and available at a lot of places (probably not at $8). I expect much of the same this year. They produce so much now that there's just absolutely no reason to wait in line (or overpay) for it, especially on Thanksgiving!

This on Long Island, but seems like a horrible deal. $45 for an 8 ounce pour, a glass and a chance to win a bottle of BCBS? With taxes and tip it is actually $62. How I the world is this worth the $90 they claim. What a joke!

<<On November 25th from 4 - 5PM Croxley Ale House in Farmingdale will hold a screening of the short documentary series "Grit & Grain", a Goose Island original collection (in "The Garden")

Join us and enjoy an 8oz pour of 2015 BOURBON COUNTY "RARE" in a complimentary collectible 2016 Bourbon County Snifter, yours to keep ($90 + value). Don't forget about our "Grit and Grain" raffle! You are automatically enrolled in a chance to win one "Limited Quantity Bourbon County Bottle" with every ticket purchase. All this @$45/person + tax & tip.>>

Croxley's in Farmingdale sucks. I gave that place three chances, won't go again. Never as good as the Rockville Centre and Franklin Square locations, but when they first opened up in Farmingdale, it was a place I liked going to. Just went downhill from the start.

Not only will BCBCS be hitting NYC, but BCBCS has already hit NYC. My local supermarket in Brooklyn already has both BCBS and BCBCS on the shelves. No idea why Top Hops is out of the loop.
