So I just went to local store and the owner show'd the he received it today, but can't cell it until next Friday, I asked him the cost, $13.99 a bottle. Ouch, he will give me 3. He told me they cost him $9, any one else think that is a little high? Not bitching, but I was pretty surprised. 13.8% ABV this year.

Seen it as high as $30, but the major stores like Binny's and WF in Chicago sold for $9.99 for the regular BCS, after last year's infections I would be surprised if GI raised prices the next year, not the best way to win customers back

Sounds like it will fluctuate this year just like last year. I picked up some for $9 at one place then came back home to SC and it was $13.

Surprised by the cost to his store or his 55% markup? As mentioned above, Binny's here last year charged 9.99 which I think is a reasonable price. They've not announced this year's prices yet however. Of course there are always stores which jack up the prices & much, much more than what you are seeing. I just avoid these places. IMO no beer is that critical to me to get ripped off by some retailer's exorbitant markup.

Just spoke with beer store contact in FL. She didn't know price yet, but it will go on sale at her location on Black Friday, one bottle per person and she expects to sell out in an hour...

Out here several stores have all said that allocations will depend on turnout day of, but that they have plenty to go around. Not sure the type of store you are speaking of, but I'd be curious to see just how they (AB/GI) determine their geographical allocations.

I don't really blame him for doing a bigger mark up than normal, his prices are great compared to many other stores. I think Goose Island is trying to recoup some the lost revenues from the infections last year.

The best thing you can do is let them sit on the shelves, tons of other great craft stouts out there.

But what was the cost to his store last year? Also I believe the $9 amount here includes a distributor cut in there too. If so, did this increase from last year? Craft beer prices in general rise year to year so I don't think anything can be attributed solely to last year's refunds imo.

Wow, I guess I will talk to him. Seriously he and I have a great relationship, I will find out what is up. How do you have this kind of knowledge?

I was reminded by a friend I should be nicer. Perhaps there's simply some odd detail of your market which doesn't match...well, the distributor's price lists. Perhaps he's a lovely individual who just likes buying beer above the price the distributors in NH have published. Perhaps it's legal in NH to buy from other states. Or, you know, maybe occam's razor would apply to the simplest scenario...

I did get him to drop it to $12.99 because I told him people were saying $11 to $13 was pretty standard.

Not really any I can find on shelves on par with BCBS in my area. Not until KBS comes in. Weyerbacher SMS isn't quite in the tier class IMO, but you'll get alot of PA homers who will tell you otherwise.

Now that BCBS is a sour you have to expect that the prices will be high.
