Other than it being tough to get a beer for a couple of hours, there was no unpleasantness.
A great day, a great place and a great event.

Friend picked up a growler of I'm About to Not Show up in Real Life for me for my birthday, beer is murky juicy danksauce. Great tropical aroma and nice bitterness to boot. Only second beer I've had from them, really nice interpretation of the New England style.

I agree. I'm About to.. was my favorite beer they have made (probably because it's my fav style). Doug told me they will be doing more like that in the future, and they actually revisited a recipe for the first time this weekend, so past favorites may appear again.

As it is, I'll be stopping by tonight as I do most Fridays.

If you like the turbid hoppy beers- they had a "session IPA" called Your Vast Self as of Saturday night. I didn't enjoy it as much as the imperial red IPA that I also had, but if you like that style you may want to check it out.

I talked to Doug about Your Vast Self also. He said it was basically the kicking off point for "I'm About to...", same basic recipt with some more aggressive hopping at the end.

good variety of quality beers, and the historical building is an interesting place to hang out. plus during the summer the outdoor bar and deck was nice.

What part of Jersey would you be coming from? South, Central, North? Depending on your route into the area there are definitely other local breweries to hit.

Hidden River is wonderful. Doug and his team are personable, attentive and all around awesome. The beers are top-quality, and it is a really unique atmosphere.

Has anyone had the banana NE IPA yet? I am probably heading down after work regardless.

Yes, Stickman is in Royersford. Across the river in Spring City is Tuned Up but I can't speak for their beer, never been.

Also along 422 is Phoenixville, with Stable 12 and Sly Fox's brewpub.

Anyone heard any recent update about Armstrong Ales move to Pottstown? It's been more than a year (June 2015) since they first announced the move.

I'm just hearing about Hidden River for the first time thanks to this thread. Can't wait to visit from Philly soon! So they have 16 oz "howler" fills?

Yes. I personally don't see the point of taking home one glass of beer, but yes. They do 16oz and 32oz growlers. Current tap list with prices:

Thanks for the info! 16oz fills appeal to me for holidays with my Dad. We typically have a large quantity of beers we want to share between us. 8 oz a piece lets us get a good feel for the beer without committing us to a full growler.

Went to Hidden River for the first time last weekend. Definitely has that off-the-beaten-path feel to it, like Hill Farmstead. It was packed on a Saturday afternoon, which I guess isn't surprising.

My only complaint with our visit was that they had only a single ipa on tap. The other 11ish taps were saisons, barleywines, porters, etc. The ones we tried were ok, but didn't stand out.

That one ipa though....wow. One of the better ipas I've had this year. Top 5 I'd say. NE style all the way. If they were allowing growler fills I would have brought home a couple, but they were only doing in-house consumption on the ipa (I guess due to its popularity).

You just visited the wrong time of year. Back in the Summer, typically at least half their beers were some form of IPA / hop dominated beer.

*Gasp* a brewery brewing seasonal beers! Count me among those that appreciate diverse draft lists.

I had the Melt Banana Face 2 nights ago. Solid IPA with tons of bananas but just a tad too sweet for me. It's no Tired Hands IPA for sure. I also had the coffee stout which was very tasty.

For me? Too many weird beers. Granted I'm an IPA fan and they only had one IPA on and no DIPA. Still an enjoyable place, people are super cool.

I am getting concerned personally. The website they had previously is now inaccessible, their facebook has had no updates to speak of. They originally set a goal to open sometime this summer. And with not the slightest update that i've seen..i wonder how much longer it will be.
