Starting a conversation, negotiating a bit, then the guy falls off a cliff. Nothing. Why? Just say no, you changed your mind, whatever. Don't just fall off the earth it's not the way it should be done. I've had plenty of negotiations that didn't work out, but I've never disappeared on a guy. Not a rookie either, makes me think twice.

Agreeing to ship on a particular day or with a particular service (typically home vs. just ground) and having the other party not fulfill their end. Beer still shows up eventually (typically the following week) but a pet peeve of mine nonetheless.

@Trio2shine isn't home just a variation of ground? When I'm setting up shipping (FedEx) it defaults to home for residential addresses & ground for businesses.

My pet peeve... Having experienced traders contact me about something on my available list & making truly lowball bullshit offers.

One guy mentioned he had a couple of Plinys & I had a couple of BVDLs, perhaps we could work it out. I still don't know if he expected PtE to go 1:1 or 1:2 with BVDL.

Or the guy who suggested I trade my BVDL for his Huna. Yes, one regular Huna for BVDL. I politely informed him that the offer was wayyy off, that a DBH might be the start of a decent offer. He replied that he had a DBH but he didn't want to give it up (while presumably others yearn to toss BVDL at him!!!) & it didn't hurt to try. Sheesh

Another guy suggested I was valuing my beer too high. I agreed that might be the case, but if he was right he should just post an ISO:FT as I'd suggested, because he could wind up with not one measly Cthulhu but three. Instead he made a final offer of Huna, straight up. One Huna? Regular Huna? The beer that is ~$20/BTL with thousands of em released every year? Yep.

Or the guy pushing his intriguing ba stout that unfortunately had very, very few reviews or comments. I explained I wasn't willing to risk my BAA which I love, on an unknown beer. He goes into hard sell about what a ba stout aficionado he is & he's all about the flavor, seeking out those rare, unsung gems & is not interested in pursuing the hype. That might be impressive if he was asking about a comparable beer with little hard history rather than trying to trade for a BAA. Suuuure.

I get decent offers that just don't appeal to me, offers I'd like if I didn't already have the suggested beers & offers I'm happy to accept but the truly bs lowball offers annoy the hell out of me. The worst are when I politely decline, they then badger & finally go off in a snit pointing out that my gots list shows it's available. Yeahhhh, available doesn't mean that I'm obliged to jump at every crummy offer. Again, sheesh.

Another pet peeve are those who shamelessly hype their beers with exaggerated reviews & comments. Opinions vary. There's genuine love & loyalty for local breweries. But there are also those who blatantly plug stuff with an eye to increasing trade value. I'm native perhaps but I was shocked to discover this. Honesty can't be over valued.

@JavaNoire Difference between ground and home is the delivery days. Ground will deliver M-F with an extra charge for Saturday delivery. Home delivers Tuesday-Saturday. If you have to sign for a box Saturday is easier so that is why it is was created. Transit time is the same for either option but cost may vary. FedEx wants you to use home to residential and ground to commercial address because it is how they have the network set up so if you switch they up-charge you a buck or two.

Poor packing materials. Please use something that I can reuse because I only send out reusable boxes.

Seeing every 2 out 3 ISO:FT threads have an ISO list of KBBS, Assassin, SR-71, Handjee, ManBearPig, etc.

What's more annoying is that the FT list often times in a thread like that consists of things most could go out and find with relative ease.

Another pet peeve of mine is when people do not respond to ISO:FT messages ... But when something like what you describe here occurs, I make exceptions and don't even bother. If someone is going to be blatantly low balling and insulting with their offer (most of the time containing nothing that was on ISO list), they don't deserve any kind of a response.

I relate to your comments since I too get random, uncolicited and ridiculous low ball offers for the Marshmallow Handjee.

This isn't so much a pet peeve to me, but it does always crack me up just how many posts with the IPA of the week release FT, just have to end with ISO: MD, KBBS, Assassin, etc. as you stated.
Because WHAT IF someone just wants to give those beers away for a 4pack.

That's at the top my list, you'll get back a generic reply (thanks it should be closed or something to that extent) because I try to avoid anything rude.

I literally had someone bring up taxes and cost of living in a trade, I don't have time for that shit if your worried about that then get your ass off the trade forums.

I don't trade a whole lot, and have no pet peeves up to this point (and pray I haven't exhibited peevable behaviour either...) but your example is just awesome. I don't trade a lot because it gets spendy, but if you are trifling over taxes and looking for a COLA adjustment, you probably shouldn't be trading to begin with!

Hateful guy. I say hops all the time in my ISO. Why do words that all know here on BA concern you?

Oh I see I wasn't aware of that.

    Hateful ..ouch.
I guess my complaint is that leaving the ISO intentionally vague "hops" "stouts" feels like an auction. Every time I have responded to that sort of ISO the trader seems to be fishing for the best offer. I guess I shouldn't care because I don't bother responding to those post anymore.

I miss the days of being able to comment on trade posts. It seems like comments should be allowed now that full on auctions are fair game..

I have made the suggestion in the past that one of the conditions of having beer trading rights is to not be able to hide your profile.
