Looking forward to this one. It's not very often you see a BA Porter/Stout in a can.

If it's anything like the growlers, it'll be all of the arms and legs.

With the new production facility though, hopefully this will be much less costly for them to make than it has been in the past.

So instead of 125 dollars a growler, only like 100 dollars?

So... ~$25 a can, or will it come in ~$100 4 packs?

Many of us just paid about $1/Oz for bottles of DSDB without batting an eye (ok, it hurt a little but it didn't stop me from buying it) so by that logic a $64 4-pk would be about right. I bet it will be half or less the $/Oz we pay for bombers of similar beers all the time. The can format is almost always more wallet-friendly than bottles.

Many of us didn't bother with DSDB for that price!

I'm too lazy to see if they've released the can size, but perhaps a stovepipe a la the recently released BA Ten Fidy?

I assuming it will be 16 oz. cans, as that is the format of the rest of their distributed beers.

Looks like a 16 oz. can like the rest of their lineup according to that picture.

If these are loose-packed cases of single cans, I'm gonna guess $14.99 retail, each.
    If they're 4-packs I'm guessing about $39.99. :grimacing:

I love this beer, but the historically very high price may keep me away from these cans.

I don't think that Barley John's could make those price points work in a retail setting. I'm sure John knows it, and I guarantee the people at Bernicks know it. From my perspective as someone who buys beer for a retailer I can't see myself bringing in a beer at that price point unless it has a Surly Darkness type aura. I hope Dark Knight gains that type of aura, but as of now it simply has a modest cult following.

As for how growlers of the beer where priced at the brewpub, I always felt that was Barley John's way of saying, 'If you really want to take this home you can. However, we really want it to stay here so it will cost a premium for you to do so.' I can understand such a position. They were a brewpub at the time, and brewpubs need people drinking beer and eating food at the brewery to say afloat.

According to my Bernick's rep Barley John's is still awaiting label approval from TTB, and are expecting Dark Night to be released in early 2017.
