@thuey makes a point, RR needs to make a new IPA for distribution though. Their IPA's aren't that competitive anymore compared to their "local" breweries like FW or even Cellarmaker.

Don't think they need another distributed IPA. I would argue they get a shit ton more foot traffic thru their brewpub than most of the local breweries combined. Money keeps flowing in and Pliny still flies off the shelves whenever it gets dropped off at any store. I'd still say that's pretty competitive.

That said. Pliny and Blind Pig are very solid beers. May not be the best anymore but you can't go wrong with either choice.

Passed through again on my way back from the grocery store and it looks like a pretty deep line extending to the winery. I'll walk over there at noon to see what's left. Hopefully I can still get cans of Pulp, if not, I'll just get a 64 oz fill.

I just rode past Berkeley and the line still looks gnarly and slow.

Sounds like FW totally shit the bed on this release. Napa location got 100 cans of pulp. Sac got a small amount.

Crazy line at Berkeley. I expected it to be popular, but not this out of control.

Hoping it goes better next time.

So I stopped in on my way back from lunch and found out that Pulp and Good Conduct were both sold out. Some Fog Ripper was still available though. The line for cans was pretty much nonexistent at this point.

    ......and it's gone.

You can't fault them for not knowing what demand would be for a first can release but making it the day before Thanksgiving doesn't help since more people are off work than normal.

I find it weird people line up and go apeshit for the cans when a month or two ago you could walk into the Sac and Berkeley tap rooms and easily get growler fills of Pulp and be out in 5-10 minutes.

I feel the same way about some of the Cellarmaker bottle releases too.

All three can releases were available for growler fill today, as well. At Berkeley, you were not required to wait in the line if you wanted just the fills.

There is something to be said for being able to drink 16 oz today without "starting the clock" on the other 16/48 oz. Though, I'm not sure it's 2-hours-in-line worth it.
