Been reading Untappd reviews and it's fascinating. The descriptions don't sound like the Prop I had at Prop Day which was not overly hot at all

The reviews seem really divided, especially about the spice/smoke.

Reminds me of the dress controversy ...."is the dress blue and black? or is the dress gold and white ?"

So just to be clear, it was terrible, but your still going to purchase it?

I first tried prop '16 and it was awful. Complete garbage.

I had it a prop day, and it was fantastic. I'm not sure what happened, but the served at prop day, was not the same beer as Fobab.

Now, with this Sheffields description I'm very worried Fobab was closer to what the bottle is.

    Line update?

Last year at this stage, there was already a group if I recall correctly.

It will really be interesting to see how the FOBAB prop vs. Prop Day prop stuff plays out over the next few weeks as people actually open bottles.

That's bizzare. I thought it was only for collecting or trading for whalez bro. :stuck_out_tongue:

First, this is all VERY entertaining on so many levels. Second, I just want to make sure I'm hearing this right? So I can probably go to the Jewel that is 30 seconds from my parent's house around 7 or a little before and get some regular, and maybe a variant (but probably not). Then go to the Mariano's down the street and probably get some more regular? Then drive by and gawk at the "burby" Binny's line for fun. To be transparent, I really like regular and my frequented shop back home is saving my allocation, which includes coffee. I just want to score a few more regs to last the year. Not to mention my buddy scored Dosvidanya regular and rye yesterday. Therefore I'm not inclined to deal with driving to LP and the roll of the dice that is Prop as I have a superior beer in my back pocket already.

Went to Sheffield's last night, and here's my takeaway. Ordered a Coffee and Prop right away. Started on the Coffee first since I had heard the Prop really needed to warm up before showing best. The Coffee is fantastic - I ended up have 3 (or 4???) of them...contrary to what was posted above, it didn't tap out within 10 minutes. Nothing tapped out that quick, unless I just had a good bartender (which I did). Prop...ugh - still not very good. Much better than FOBAB, but still just OK. I think the heat will definitely induce divided opinions. I thought that it was OK on an individual sip basis, but after I had a few sips, I just had heat in my mouth. My thought was that I'll get my Prop as part of the allocation and trade it for a few Coffee. I had a regular (or two???) after that, and it was fantastic - everything you want and expect out of BCBS.

It was great meeting @ericmurray93 while taking down all the BCBS.

Thought the Barleywine was great this year as well.

You probably can't show up at 7 to get variants...maybe BW, but that's really not what people want. And, from the Mariano's I've talked to, they aren't getting regular tomorrow.

Now that Jewel has gotten the word out, I think you need to get there earlier versus later. To think you can just show up at or near 7am, for example, and get a full allocation is not a good plan IMO.

Like I said, already have an allocation waiting for me back home that includes coffee. Which was my big motivator at this point. Mostly I'm going out to score a few more regs. I'd be totally fine with an extra BW as I happen to really like that too. Thanks for the feedback!

Pricing update - $11.99 regular and $13.99 BW. Actual purchase prices, but obviously not at a Binny's.

Not at Binny's, so where is that the price?

I think Rare played a large role in that.
