Generous friend with a porch bomb, apropos of very little. Nice little juice to start the morning.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Now that black friday is all over, I can finally do some shopping myself. I haven't made a beer haul yet this week, so I am going to be making up for that today. Need new beers to review badly, so it's time to stock up. Also need to get a few things to finish out this holiday weekend. A nice bomber or two to enjoy later today sounds like a good plan. Beers for this morning:

Amazing pale ale, almost went through the whole 6 pack this weekend. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine; with moderate caramel, brown sugar, and toasted bread malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine and citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Very smooth and sticky hop finish, with a fair amount of balancing creaminess in the mouthfeel. Lightly resinous with increasing bitter dryness. Refreshingly smooth. Will likely grab another pack while I can.

Just found another 6 pack yesterday. This stuff is so mind blowing, best (locally available) single IPA I've ever had. Flavors of grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with some light honey, wheat, bready malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; balanced grainy malt and sticky/resins in the mouthfeel. Crisp/dry finish and never astringent on bitterness. Awesome bright/dank hop profile, and refreshingly drinkable. Mosaic and Equinox hops are my favorite of all time. They should make this year round with normal pellet hops, and I'd always have it in the fridge.

2014 vintage. Tasting insane as expected! Nearly perfectly balanced and super smooth right now. Flavors of big caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, vanilla, toasted oak, bourbon, coconut, and light chocolate; with moderate raisin, prune, fig, and date dark fruits; with lighter notes of leather/tobacco and herbal/woody spice. Light-moderate herbal hop bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Fairly full bodied with an amazing creamy/silky mouthfeel; light sticky/chalky roast and a touch of tannic bourbon/oak dryness. Definitely one of my top favorite cellar beers to buy every year, as with most of Founders imperial stuff. I grabbed 2 packs this year; but just came across more this weekend at the corner store, so I might get another. (also, a lone 4 pack of 2015 Curmudgeon!)

2016 batch is tasting amazing! Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and light dark fruits. Roasted bittersweet and bourbon/oak spicy balanced finish. Medium-full bodied, awesome creamy/silky and lightly slick mouthfeel; with some lightly drying chalky roast and tannic oak/bourbon notes after the finish. Lightly warming finish, with zero boozy barrel notes. Super smooth sipper. Great malt/barrel balance and still plenty of coffee flavor. I definitely think this years batch was an improvement over last year. Glad I got multiple 4 packs. Will do so again next year, which will be coming around real soon already. Glad Heresy is coming back too.

    Welcome to Beer Turkey Day!

I have some errands to run, but I look forward to returning soon and seeing what bad beers you all have in store, as well as how well you can convey their essence.

    Let's roll 'em, folks!

Hey there @JamFuel I found yet another Swedish beer to sample: Carnegie Porter. At 5.5%, this is listed as a Baltic Porter on BA. Having tried 3 different Baltic Porters in the past week (Flying Fish Gonzo, Sinebrychoff Porter, and now this) I have to say that they all had their own distinctive flavors but the latter had the most intense coffee character. Despite the low ABV, it was the one with the smallest head (and head retention). Nice enough lacing though.

Alright I will go first. Last year I had a beer I thought was a real turkey alright. AND I seemed to be the only person who did not like it. I put it in my "cellar" and hooray it is the only beer that ever lasted the entire year down there. I have never done a vertical and I do not usually buy beer to keep for longer than it takes to drink it.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Nose is spicy hop and sweet baked bread. A light cool herbal background and a few soft sweet esters form alcohol. Then you notice a little pepper. Nutty, cool herbal and spice. When I had the beer the first time I thought the nose was excellent.

Pours hazy orange very thin head that falls fast and leaves nothing behind. drinks with a not quite full mouthfeel and still some alcohol on the palate. LAst year it was brazen and hot. The alcohol stole all the flavors and it was so bad no one wanted it. That is how I ended up with a beer I did not want to drink again for a whole year. This year the alcohol is much softer but still there. In fact as you swallow, a much more graceful warmth than last year, then this gives a subtle fruity note. Taste is baked sweet bread, faint light brown sugar, a touch of butterscotch, and plenty of earthy hops. Thinner than some barley wines but that's not a bad thing. Hoppy enough in the middle to keep the mouthfeel less than full so also more american style than english.

I would say that one year has turned my turkey into a beer . Cheers! :grinning:

Had some amazing beers over the last few days, but I figured there was plenty of over-sharing here between Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy the beer (and the food) in the moment, instead of rushing to share the pic at the virtual bar.

Today, though, is a bit of a return to normalcy. Off for the weekend, some great football to watch, and some great beer I picked up yesterday. Kicking it off with Big Bad Baptist, a beer I was shocked to find just across the RI border.

Weighing in: man, this year's BC is a true return to form. I had a little  on draught, and I have to say, I loved it. Almost no reason to age the bottles.

But right now, I'll enjoy the brew in my glass. Cheers, BAs!

Am watching a recorded show on the rivalry and am expecting some good back and forth from you MI and OSU fans today. As for my in-state football rivalry this year (with I believe more BAs for the other team), all I have to say is....

UVa beat Iowa in basketball last night :flushed:

And I just realized to rub it in, today's theme is Hokie Turkey Day... which thankfully is a day for exposing beers of poor taste :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of, have to decide if I want to get a good beer first or jump right in...
