Sounds like a typical Friday night to me :slight_frown:

FWIW, it looked a lot more mellow to me yesterday evening as I was walking home. There were people, but it didn't look like an overwhelming number. I would have stopped in, but I feel weird about stopping in for just samples. I'm not really in the market for more growlers right now.

Anyone know if Lamplighter is doing growlers as deposits (i.e. redeemable) or purchase?

Don't ever feel weird about samples or stopping into any business to just look. You're a consumer and they are in business to do one thing. Please you the consumer. I'll take all the free sample I can get before I spend my money on something. Impress me, then we can talk.

I'd say stop in and say hi! Chances are if they are good people it will be a good experience and you probably will get to try some great beer.

To plays Devils advocate thought I don't think I would stop by a brewery where I know the folks at the front desk by name and expect to just get free samples every time I go. Gotta have a little common sense right?

They are for purchase only. No deposit, no returns.

I swung by on Sunday for a sampler. Really nice space and a nice variety of beers. One of the brett Ipa's really stood out and their gose was terrific as well. Will definitely being going back.

    Perfect little crawl: Lamplighter>Lord Hobo>CBC

Putting the term "juice bomb" on your packaging is a dangerous game...

Yeah, I've enjoyed their beers so far, but the IPAs I've tried have been much more "mid-coast" style. Half Acre rather than Tree House.

Meh, as long as it's hazy 90% of drinkers will just call it juicy anyhow. That's how the 'NE style' train is going now. I've had a good handful that in no way drink or taste like the stereotype. (not saying some weren't good, just vastly different hop, bitterness, and mouthfeel profiles) Then when you look them up here and on other rating sites "juicy", "juice bomb", and "pillowy" are the top descriptors.

The look has more to do with perception for most people than it actually being a juice bomb.

We've had this internal debate now for a little while - we ended up changing the recipe and developing more of the "Hop Candy" flavor profile on this one, rather than the "Juice Bomb," - but we hope (and think!) you guys will still like it!

Tried some last night at the taprom, I described it exactly as hop candy, so you hit the nail on the head there. That being said, I tend to steer away from hop candy ipas, would like to try the juice bomb recipe!

We'll get there, promise. In an IPA world dominated by Trillium and Treehouse, we're looking to find our own identity instead of trying to do what they do. Glad you enjoyed.

Lunch, back when it was good, always gave me a "hop candy" vibe. That the kind of thing we're talking about?

Society and solitude is what I think of, the hf doubles have a candy thing going on

Had solar plexus last night. I described it on untappd as kind of sweet like candy. But I suck at describing beer. But I felt while hoppy, it was also a bit sweet like hard candy. Anyway, really enjoyed it. May have to take a ride over to Cambridge to check these guys out.

SMfS drinks to me like a cross between Second Fiddle and SoS. Definitely more of a VT style DIPA than a Trill/TH MA version. "Hop Candy" is a good description but the sweetness isn't overwhelming.

    Very nice.

The Brett IPA was a bit too barnyard for my liking but I enjoyed everything else.

Drove by last night and there was a line out the door, so things are going well it would seem.

So Much for Subtlety is OK, not great. Drinking Mad Hatter right now. It's terrific, just the right blend of malt, Brett, and hops. The flavors merge well rather than compete with each other.
