The chair debates in the Tired Hands release forums are pure entertainment.

Did anyone else see the cragslist post advertising free camp chairs using that pic of the empty chairs and giving directions to that location?

"To think we used to savagely buy hoppy beers at the grocery store, like some knuckle dragging cicerones, whittling out crude mash paddles from driftwood."

Short version : people are nuts. : )
To think that today, I brought back empties, searched for , and failed to find, the new Grimm beers, and other tasty arrivals (Wed. - now gone), so then searched , and found, other top-notch (World-class, even) selections, + some gifts, and paid for said beers, in a total of five minutes. What am I doing wrong? ; )

A couple of months ago I went down that Grimm rabbit hole , meaning that I followed the thread for a bit hoping to score some cans. I just assumed that if I knew the release day and places that had it, all I would have to do was stop by after work. Silly me! Those cans didn't last two hours, and there were up to the minute postings that you had to follow.

I'll leave it to those who want to play that game from now on, it's just not worth it to me.

FWIW, I got a glass of some sort of Grimm Double IPA at a bar in my area a few months back. It was reasonably priced and certainly tasty, but the mouthfeel was thin and it definitely wasn't the best of the night. I can't remember what was exactly, because there were a good handful, but I think that went to something by Honest Weight.

I love their sours, but not the IPAs myself, but in this instance I was just hoping to get something special for someone else. It was just one hoop too far for me to jump through.

Personally, I can get a glass for most releases if I wanted to because I work in NYC. It's the cans that are tricky.

Call me old school but you are either in line or you're not. I don't respect the empty chair placeholder.

This is so true. If one does not suffer with quiet dignity, internal pride, and a nice buzz, one is not worthy.

The only reason the brewery in the article allows chairs is to create hype and to try to keep the folks around for as long as possible to squeeze the most time and money out of their customers. Instead to just silently releasing cans different days of the week to cater to their locals they use Instagram to fuel hype and make it as big as possible. I haven't personally tried to walk in front of any chairs but I would imagine the brewery staff would tell you to go to the back of the line.

My buddy lives in New Salem and I visit fairly frequently. I think Honest Weight makes some really good brews.

The key is to find a shop not discussed on the forums, in out, no lines. And this not only applies to stuff from Grimm.

It's akin to having someone stand in an empty parking spot for you!
