Happy Monday BA's ! Insane week and weekend. Enough so that I regretfully didn't even make time for an NBS post :slight_frown:. But it's a new week, and I'm confident it's gonna be a great one. Let's start with some greatness from yesterday...it's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

    GotD:
@TooGood for this Old Stock chalice and proper pairing that would make any fan of North Coast's finest jealous! Cheers and congrats!
2nd: To none other than @BeerVikingSailor for this vintage Guinness tub of a snifter...also properly paired .
3rd: And to @threeviews for this glass style I've yet to come up with a name for other than "wiggly gripper" :grinning:! That's copyrighted folks :sunglasses:.

Remember!: You needn't worry all users of fine festive ware! Your spirited vessels will be showcased in this Saturday's Holiday Glass of the Week Awards!
Cheers everyone and I will see you all soon!

    GotD.

A Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, not to be found around here until this week.

From last week on the double IPA Torpedo was widely available from a chain of supermarkets, and now this one. I wonder what next week will bring

    Cheers!

I tried this Leffe a couple weeks ago and agree that it's not extraordinary. Labels and presentation of the different Leffe royals look real great, and woke my curiosity. Still have to try some others in this Royal series.
Nice glass by the way
    Cheers!

Having a second at the moment and it feels a bit better now. Still, as an IPA and as most of its other products, Leffe could do so much better. Cheers.

    Good morning Ba's!

I'm starting the morning with an old friend of mine. He is always there when I'm in trouble.

Victory Brewing HopDevil India Pale Ale. An interesting brew to say the least.

Woke up to snow this morning, and now the rain is washing it away. Step aside fresh IPAs (for now), it's time for a big bold stout. Really tasty brew. Cheers!

Christmas gift spending trouble with the Mrs. I may have spent too much on a "beer cooler/fridge". Exciting stuff I know. Magic brownies had a part in that decision so I am only partially to blame

That was a bit like I was thinking. But would not recommend to go to great lengths or pay high import prices.
    Cheers!

A bomber of Maplewood Brewing Son of Juice IPA that a friend gave me before I got sick. The feel is a little thin, but the hop flavor lives up to it's name. Another solid regional IPA added to my list.

The pup turned 11 months a few days ago so I figured it was time to add another photo to the album tracking her growth. Like most dogs she loves the snow and it brought out the youth in both of us. My older mutt Payton was too busy sniffing for critters to be bothered with a photo shoot. She has her priorities!

Cheers everyone! Today I am drinking Genesee Brew House Double Bock. This is the second year I have had it and I think it is world class. I think this beer shows flavors that demonstrate the style, is better than exemplary in each category, and excels because it is not the same as every other beer. When you go to taste beer, don't be surprised if you find your self saying common phrases we all like to joke about . One of them is "is it the same as last year?" I think this beer is a little different from last year. I think it is heartier and breadier and has more caramel but not more hops.

Pours beautifully with a rich deep color and light tan head that falls slowly and doesn't ever go away. Clings gently and leaves streaky lacing. The hues are marvelous because the beer is impeccably clear. Not only clear but also bright. That gives the middle of the beer an appearance like water colors. Its got dark brown, orange and in the soft middle a lovely bright gold. Active bubbles but not an effervescent stream. Without the perfect clarity you cannot see all those rich colors that dapple the eye.

Nose is hearty and breaddy. Baked brown bread with a melanoidn or browned bread crust character. Raisin and caramel. Hops floral is earthy and a bit sweet. No real scents form alcohol. Drinks so well. it's full, and has a complex malt that shows you everything that was on the nose and finishes with a light but strapping bit of bitterness from the alcohol which has come to balance the finish . The style finishes sweet but well attenuated . The malt carries the finish and that is where you see the strength of the caramel. Almost firm, nutty . Hops do bitter the finish just enough to show you their pepper. I don't taste any coffee, although I do taste earthy roast that is not quite bitter. And I do notice some satiny bitter chocolate in the finish.

    World class.
