Kane Brewing (December 2016)

I mean, we kind of have a case study for this. Last year they did the silent release for Double Barrel Aged ANTEAD and the left over bottles of regular ANTEAD and the variants. Things seemed to go well for that, no?

 

Forgot about that! I dont know if it was timing or what on that, but there was barely a line!

 

Speaking of which, ANTEAD was around this time of year last year. Are they doing it this year?

 

Last year it was about 18 months between releases, so there's no guarantee there will be one this year, especially considering it's December, but who knows.

 

I think it would be cool if they did different ANTEADs randomly as silently releases. One weekend cocoa and coffee, one weekend regular, one weekend vanilla, etc. Then again though, once one dropped you'd have those nuts who line up every weekend, just in case you know.

 

This was pre expansion. I think with the way it was done lately this wouldn't be the case and even if that was cut in half with no prep time I think it would be smooth. I'd wait even 2 hours in a line. Some of that was due to announcing it and the preparations for the shit show that ensued. I think a silent release with the new format is 100% the way to go.

As for the barrels, empty them on a Sunday and Rack them back up before Thursday empty over several weeks. Very easy getting around that.

 

I'm not sure how the expansion affects the lines other than having more product to sell. Of course this is good as more people get beer in that case. But it's a separate issue than the manor in which the product is dispersed.

I like the silent releases. But I'm biased because geographically it means so long as I watch facebook on Saturday mornings and have time to kill, I win. The BPT method didn't favor anyone geographically, so it's actually more fair imho.

Having seen first hand how the BPT method worked, I can tell you it was likely the fastest moving line at Kane ever. I think the fact that pre purchasing allowed them to know exactly what each person was picking up, and have it ready to go, made things move super fast. It was simple, check your ID and ticket against the list, and hand you the prepackaged beer in the quantity the list said. No taking orders of varying quantity and product, person by person..

 

silent release/bpt.. either way i'll try to get some of whatever Kane does that comes out of barrels.. they are always good to great. No method will every be perfect or please everybody.
