I had king sue out of a red solo cup...thought I packed my glass for the tailgate, but alas it was left behind. The saving grace...Iowa beat Michigan 14-13 so it was a good day nonetheless.

Not beer but likely worse...I drank a 1986 duckhorn Merlot out of a coffee mug. I will qualify this by saying it was one of three bottles as a wedding gift the night before the wedding and we had already literally used all of the wine glasses from the entire hotel (we had an out of town guest open house in our suite and had about 50 people and a huge amount of beer/wine/champagne consumed).

Bottom line, if it's a surprise consumption the liquid will still be good no matter how you consume it, just not the ideal tasting experience...but sometimes that makes the experience (i.e. The memory) better if not the true experience of consuminh

I read VITAL in your post and feel that it is NOT vital and in the larger scheme of things, plays no part in the overall enjoyment of my beer.

I have had way too many average beers in nice glasses from new breweries who should have spent the extra money hiring someone more skilled, buying better grain, buying better yeast, or equipment. Polishing up a turd is getting old for my palate.

As far as embarrassing, I've had some hefty bombers straight out of the bomber, swapping spit essentially with other drunkards lol. I guess that belongs in the NO glassware category.

True story. One of my best memories of drinking beer was lugging a pack of All Day IPA around the woods with friends, chugging from the can and just shooting the shit and enjoying nature.

Often I find myself in a hotel room in Washington or Minnesota surrounded by great beer. I usually try to bring these awesome beers home, but sometimes I drink a few. These will normally get drank out of a plastic hotel room cup. It sucks, but when the beer is that good, you drink it. Cheers to all the traveling beer drinkers

    Still reeling from the OP.

Have a story that involves a pale ale, a beer fridge stuck at 38F, and a snifter - but not ready to share yet.

I have one set of beer glasses and then a few strays here and there but none are the same. For the times when I share beer I like to pour into small tumblers or rocks glasses no matter what the style because they are the same size. I need a glass. i don't care if it's a solo cup as long as the beer comes out of the can or bottle.

The red solo cup is just fine. It's what you had. Humans are resourceful. I'd like to hear more about the local fauna and flora; did the iguana hang around or just happen by briefly?

I'm easy with glasses I suppose, the only glass I don't like to drink out of a pint glass. Just don't. I love my Pils glasses, tulips IMO are very flexible too, they work for IPAs and big stouts equally well. Embarressing glasses; I have a set of Marty moose glasses like the ones on Christmas Vacation. I hate egg nog, but use them for Irish Coffee if I use them at all.

Oh the humanity, drinking a great beer from a "Red Solo Cup" is still a great beer.
Seriously how many songs have been written about a shaker pint, tulip, pilsner, snifter or a snulip?
After rotting a few hours in Key West does what you drink out of really matter? That and walking around with a snifter and flip flops just seems wrong
Marty Moose glasses are a tradition in this house and they look better with a BA stout in them than Egg Nog

They make solo cups in Pliny the Elder green. I know this because I have done it. I thought it looked elegant as hell

My affinity for bizarre glassware is well documented. Candle holders, jelly jars, milk glasses, juice glasses - it's all fair game as far as I'm concerned. However, I do not like drinking beer out of plastic vessels. It is my theory that tiny imperfections in plastic surfaces function as nucleation points, releasing much more carbonation than do glass surfaces. Can I prove this? No. Have I observed this? Absolutely.

I use a tulip glass from the .99 cent store. A little crooked but it works for me. I will admit to using coffee travel mugs. It's a great way to hide the fact that you are drinking a beer. My favorite party glass is a small mason jar attached to an over sized glass stem I purchased from the discount bin at the Tractor Store. It has that nice "red neck" look and no one is going to accidentally take your beer.

Right? I played beer pong and flipcup with red Solo cups of Dichotomous this summer.

One of my greatest pet peeves is when people confuse pilsner glasses with wheat beer glasses. Used to happen all the time at my local tap haus. I used to get my Faust poured into a wheat beer glass. This happens most often when the wheat beer glasses available don't taper at the top; the sides of the top are straight, and this is what confuses some people... never mind the fact that every proper Pilsner glass should be stemmed and/or have a solid base.

Also, watching someone drink Shock Top out of a Blue Moon glass is fucking hilarious. Watching someone drink Boddington's straight from the can is fucking painful.

And then the fact that a "real" pilsner glass is a dimpled Czech mug, not the fluted, stemmed thing :stuck_out_tongue:

I drank a beer out of a styrofoam cup at the office late one time. It foamed up so much that not much of the beer was actually poured into it and I drank it from the bottle. It was DFH 75 Minute IPA and felt a little weird drinking a large format beer from the bottle but at least I have my own office.

There couldn't have been more than an inch of beer in the bottom but the head was all the way to the top. I assume it was nucleation from the surface of the styrofoam cup because I have had that beer before that time and since.

I once drank a Samuel Smith Imperial Stout from a sippy cup. In my defense, I was drinking it from the bottle (I know, I know) and the wife's cousin knocked the bottle off the table. I wanted to protect the merchandise.

First time poster. I am here to learn. Is there somewhere on this site that has a listing matching beer to glass. Thanks!

I was longing for a Solo cup last night. Went to a party at a house with people I barely know. Wife and I stopped on our way to get our own beer, because... well you know. The party was with my wife's dog rescue organization friends, so I bought a six of Smutty Old Brown Dog to be topical (and because I was in the mood for it).
Got to the house, beer purchase was a good plan, nothing but Coors and Amstel Light.
The host saw I brought my own beer and asked if I wanted a glass.. "of course I do thank you". Got this weird 60's/70's dark translucent yellow cut glass thing that probably had seen some fondue parties. That brown ale looked horrible in there, but I was able to ignore it and have a good time until.... I noticed all the wine drinkers were drinking from blue Solo cups! It didn't look like it bothered anyone, but I was actually longing for a Solo cup so I could look in and see the brown. I was polite and kept using the glass I was given.
My wife drank her New Belgium Lager from the bottle all night.
