Schell's Cave Barrel Aged #3

I'm so excited #3 is hitting distribution even if in low amounts! Since #3 is probably another lager with light bourbon flavors the truck chasers won't buy it all up.

 

Anyone that saw this and passed it up is really doing themselves a disservice. That beer at that price is ridiculous. So good.

 

Yeah not much chatter about this one.

 

Agree 100%, every where i went had a 1-2 bottle limit thou, ended up with 4 of these. A superb Lager.

 

Never saw a bottle out in the wild. Oh well.

I'm having my first one tonight...anyone else picking up on some buttery diacetyl-ness?

 

Yes. "Chardonnay barrel" butteriness is what I was picking up, although I didn't add that to my review. I'm about ready to crack into a fresh one right now.

 

I am picking up the same, still love it though. It has all of the best flavors of a dunkel and the barrel adds a whole new level of complexity. I'm going to have to scour Northeast, Downtown & South Metro for more.

 

That and a slight wine tartness?

 

Picked up a sixer at Kowalski's in Eagan this morning. There was one left as of 10:30am.

 

I need to go to Iowa and try to find this. Really bummed we no longer get Schell's in Nebraska

 

One 6-pack left of this (as of yesterday afternoon) at Charlie's in Sioux City.

 

I hate to post about a one-time beer that is now probably long gone from the stores, but I bought a six-pack of this shortly after Christmas. I've had 2 of the six now. This is a wonderful beer! The fine wine of beers!
