I agree 100%. I ended up buying four 6-packs while in previous year(s) it was just one 6-pack.

    Cheers!

I'll agree with the majority on here this beer was awesome, would love to see this top shelf APA be a more year round offering. Would be hard to beat the value. I'll certainly buy more in future

Surprised to still see this on the shelf at my local Safeway today. Thinking of trying it again to see how far it fell off.

I drank my last one this past Sunday.. while it's certainly fallen off from the beer I had when it was 2-4 days old. Nearly 2 months later, it was still pretty damn tasty..

    Peace...

My local Total Wine has at least 4 cases left. I've been going in every week and grabbing a sixer the last couple of weeks. They have the display in the back corner of the store. Facing a wall. I only found it because I asked at the front desk.
I thought it was excellent. Even my dad, who doesn't drink beer, had one on Thanksgiving and was raving about it.

You sound like me. I think I put back 3 cases worth, neglecting so many other APAs and IPAs in that time frame. But Nelgect may not be the best word really. Lagunitas deserved this $$$.
    -------

    Just an update.
So I couldn't resist as I was shopping for beer, and saw more BY this past weekend. This place either sold most of theirs, had the distributor take it back, or they moved it (again) to a far more obscure spot, because it finally seemed to be on its last leg availability wise.

I went with two more sixers. I pretty much feel the same way now as I did on November 28th. Aroma has this vibrancy to it. Truly world class. One that even 2-3 hour or day old beers couldnt replicate.

But it takes a funny turn. Malts have started to take over. The beer is evolving and given how we know how great it could taste, it is distracting me from thoroughly enjoying a beer that is easily still a top beer, given the other beers on shelves next to it. It leads me to questioning, if a 97 rated beer falls to maybe 90, and is still the best available, would you still drink it, or choose something else? My senses are puzzled.

Just like last year, I think I had my last enjoyable BY right around Christmas, and found more on a shelve in March, at which point it was lacking way too much to even rate it.

I had one Sunday and found the malts to be creeping in. Yet as I type all this crap up, it's easily tasting mid November ish. I'm catching some pineapple notes for the first time now. Either I'm evolving or this beer is. It's pretty spectacular at times.

Bottom line, I think I will officially cut myself off at 12am January 1st, 2017. It definitely has some life left in it for the next two plus weeks. Do not hesitate to buy it IMHO. I know I won't.

Why are we still talking about this beer from 2-3 months ago? It's high westified time.

Lots of people can't get High West-ified yet since there seems to be a recall due to it being high infect-ified or something.

yeah haha. when this was out I really didn't touch anything else that was hoppy, or anything else for that matter.

would be utter bliss if this was dropped every few months or so. Lagunitas' other products often hard to purchase unless it's seasonal, because the year-round stuff usually sits on the shelf. would love to see more seasonal pale ales/IPAs from them.

I was at my fav. beer store today and after a 2-3 week hiatus, they once again restocked some more Born Yesterday. I 3 weeks ago (around Thanksgiving) I bought another 6er but @ $12.99 current listing price and now beyond 8 weeks old, I let a sleeping dog lie. In my area, it seems the distributor (or store) is holding back or moving BY's. They were on the shelves for only about 3-5 days initially before being depleted around town...made another appearance about 2-3 weeks later in local shops, disappeared for a few weeks yet again and now back again today (mid Dec).

To quote @Oktoberfiesta above "It leads me to questioning, if a 97 rated beer falls to maybe 90, and is still the best available, would you still drink it, or choose something else?"

My answer: If the shop owner would have marked it down to say $8.99 a sixer here in Mid December, I might have been more tempted to grab it again today as only a "90 rated" IPA, but still trying to be sold at the original listing price of $12.99, the answer is no.

Agree....Sucks (original formula), Waldo, Born Yesterday released once a year. And I'd like to add Hop Stoopid as the 4th seasonal release. Get rid of the stale/old bomber formats and sell this beer in 6 packs once a year as a seasonal release. Now there are 4 solid hoppy beers, I'd be really excited to buy every year/every time.

This beer is still excellent. One of the top 2 or 3 IPAs I have had this year.

Went out to dinner tonight and seen the restaurant had it on draft....Plus it was happy hour so half price on 16oz pours....$3.99....Can't beat that.....Was still excellent....Will say though it was similar to the last bottle I had in flavor....Theirs was clear while my bottles were hazy....

I may be in the minority here, but this is still one of the best pale ales I have ever drunk. I'll probably still buy this till January. I keep trying other kinds of pale ales but I always keep coming back to this even though it's far from its prime. Can't wait for the next year's version, and will definitely be buying a whole case of this in the fall of 2017.

I'd probably still roll the dice if I saw some, but it's long gone here.

I'm drinking one right now and it still blows away 95% of the shelf IPAs out there. I really hope they can replicate this again in 2017.
