    Hey all,

So I'm approaching my 3000 beer and I want to pick an amazing/special beer for it. I'm love IPAs and sours and some stouts are just as good to my taste buds. My cellar is full with some a couple whales in it (but I kind of want to save the whales for bottle shares), and I don't want to do an IPA because the ones I brew are juice bombs!
With all that being said, what would you pick for 3000 beer? How would you celebrate it? A share can't happen due to my schedule. Thanks and cheers.

If you want to have a special bottle, but not one from your existing cellar, I guess that means you'll need to acquire a new one. For my milestone beers I've taken the attitude that whatever beer I choose is made special by the milestone, so I don't really need to put a ton of effort into finding some magical perfect beer. They haven't been shelf beers, but usually something from a longtime favorite brewery whose beers helped me get to another milestone.

Also, keep in mind this is a personal event, no one else will really care which beer you choose so you only have yourself to please. You can overthink it if you really want, but it's also just another beer on the road to 4000, 5000, and beyond.

I've personally never considered a "milestone" beer, but I thought it might be funny to post that I'd had something like Colt 45 ICE as one. Unfortunately in looking back I'm disappointed, all of my 1000th beers have been pretty good. Perhaps that means I have good taste! ~ Nah, I've drank too much crap beer for that! I've had 63 of the 100 "Bottom of the List"

I would probably grab the gnarliest Whale you have. Maybe a Steel Reserve? Or a nice Colt 45? Definitely something malty with a nice ABV.

just drink the beer that comes along. I track my beers but dont care what number order they come in. They will taste the same if 3000 or 3026.

    Enjoy

Agreed that whatever beer you have will make the milestone, the milestone won't make the beer.

I really don't know what to suggest otherwise. Open to trades? Are you trying to pick something up right now to enjoy? Have you reviewed Bud Light yet?

Haha, you guys are awesome! I think I'll close my eyes and pick a bottle just to realize that my alcoholic hobby contaminated my liver with 3000 different bottles of poison, not to include the thousands of home brews.

I don't think he's ever "reviewed" anything. But I'll go with your suggestion.

I don't really review on here but I do have a running log book I made while getting my level one certification. I like to use my BA ratings to see if I would buy again or trade for!

You sir are an uber-ticker. 20-30 beer samples nearly every day? 3000 beers ticked since April 2015 (not counting all the home brews you mentioned?

Looking at how you go on a run of 5-10 beer tastings/ratings per brewery, it looks like you either hit craft bars locally with tap takeovers, or are traveling around the country doing flights at breweries. Would be interested to know your "thing".

Does having a taster of 4oz or less apply as a "beer count"?

I consider that the minimum amount in order to rate a beer.

Now, I am a full-on tick machine, I'll admit it.. But I do have some standards.

    How about either...

A whale from your cellar (don't worry about your bottle shares...you'll get more beer) or revisit your favorite beer from the past 2999.

64 oz is a good gauge to use. 4 oz is basically one swig if you are doing it right...

I would finish with what I started, very first beer reviewed. No better way to bring it full circle.

But it wouldn't count as a rating. That's the point.
