Going to have to trust me on the masking tape born on date. Felt that 2015 was a unfortunate departure from a pretty tasty beer. 2016 (which I'll drop in a future installment of WBAYDN) is good again; I'm not sure how the barrel treatment or adjuncts differ from those earlier batches (of scratches), but it's good in a different way.

This 2014 has the IBU all but receding, tugging at the periphery only slightly--bitter chocolate and barrel presence remain the frontrunners here. Plan to crack a 2015 again next week, give it another try and hope that time has be generous. Cheers all.

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Supposed to get really cold up here in the next few days, then warm up again later in the week. They keep changing the forecast, so who knows what will actually happen.

Still tasting amazing! Flavors of grapefruit, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine hops; with some light honey, wheat, bready malts; and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; balanced grainy malt and sticky/resins in the mouthfeel. Crisp/dry finish, and never astringent on bitterness. Awesome juicy hop profile, and refreshingly drinkable. Mosaic and Equinox hops are my favorite of all time. I would love a year round version of this, even without fresh hops. I still have a 6 pack left at the moment, but this still tastes good enough to justify me buying another pack if I saw it.

Delicious as usual. Flavors of grapefruit, orange zest, pine, caramel, raisin, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and toasted oak. Moderate pine/citrus rind bitterness and bourbon/oak spice on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; nice creamy and sticky/resinous balance in the mouthfeel; a touch slick and silky from the barrel. Increasingly drying finish, but never astringent or overly aggressive like the base beer. Really drinkable. Was a bit underwhelmed when I reviewed this initially, but I really love it now. Lots of added barrel complexity going on.

This is amazing! Flavors of coconut, vanilla, spiced rum, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, oak, and light molasses/coffee. Light roast bitterness and rum/oak spice on the finish. Full-ish bodied; nicely creamy/silky in the mouthfeel; with some light sticky/chalky roast, and a touch of roasted dryness. Lightly warming finish; no barrel booziness in the flavors; but there is a bit in the aromas as it warms. Very smooth, rich, and complex. Lots of coconut and rum, but still very well balanced with the base beer. Just wonderful, glad I bought a lot of these. Probably my favorite variant they released so far.

This is an insane pumpkin spice ale! Flavors of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, molasses, vanilla, gingerbread, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, raisin, fig, apple, toasted oak, bourbon, and coconut. Light bourbon/oak tannin and spice bitterness; with an incredible balance with no cloying sweetness at all. Fairly full bodied with an awesome creamy/silky mouthfeel; light slickness and spice stickiness. Touch of dryness. Definitely one of the best spiced beers I have ever had, and the price is amazing for the bomber too($7). The balanced between malt, barrel, and spices is damn near perfect. Will definitely grab another bomber soon.

Yeah, we got a little snow along the southern shore last night. Close to a foot to be exact. Looks like a snow day with the kid! I was supposed to go to Half Acre today to pick up a keg for Christmas. We'll see what transpires as the day goes on? Have a great Sunday!

I'll put together some words over in NBS once I process...

Jets got slammed last night - always good for a groan. Hoping for the Giants to stand firm today, but dem Lions is fierce, although Stafford hurt his paw... :flushed: Big divisional game in Cincy today - you know I'm a Steeler fan, so that's gonna be tense.

Meantime, in unrelated news, today is not my birthday.

If it were, I'd be in the company of Charles Oakley and Brad Pitt...

Was hoping to get of to an earlier start today, but early morning travels with the potential of icy roads pushed things back a bit. Found this guy hiding in the back of the refrigerator, nice balance of chocolate and coffee.
