Twin Cities Bottle Hunt - 2016 Edition

I wanted to chime in on my experience at Beer Geek Christmas. I showed up at 8:45 and waited in line outside for 15 minutes. I was about 25th in line and it was a cold 15 minutes. At nine they let the line move inside and had cookies and a couple different beers to sample while we waited. I was worried that being 25th in line would leave me with limited exciting beers, but that was definitely not the case. I was pleasantly surprised with the choices available and purchased two big time wants and a few other really nice items. Yes the line was long, but I chatted with a couple guys around me in line and the hour I spent in line went by quick enough. Thank you to Ed and the crew at Heritage for making my Beer Christmas extra jolly!

 

I thought the beer geek xmas was pretty fun with a cool selection. Didn't really get much I don't already have, but it was stuff that isn't just sitting around at current shops. 2010 madame rose, last years bent paddle double shot double black, 2012 bcbs and some other randoms on the shelves - black butte any, big bad baptist, and BA narwhal.

If there was any criticism to hand out, it would have been nice if people we shuffled in and out of the cellar. I got there around 1040 and didn't in back until after 1. There couldn't have been more than 45 people in front of me. All in all it was still fun and sure as hell beats waiting outside.

 

Just out of curiousity, what were the two "super rare" bottles for the drawings?

 

My SO made me choose between Steel Toe and Beer Geek Christmas. My 6 bottles of Before The Dawn will keep me warm tonight. I wish I would have had time to go to Heritage as well. I am sure they spend a lot of time planning and setting up, so it's unfortunate it didn't go smoothly for a lot of the day. In hindsight, I am sure there are thing that they could do differently, but it is hard to predict how it will go and I think their logic was sound.

 

Anyone know where I can get more Pirate noir? I have an affinity for rum barrels

 

Their were six bottles in their drawing. BCBS OG Rare, 2005 Lou Pepe Gueze? Not sure exactly, some vintage Cantillon Gueze, I believe a Cantillon Vignerone and an Against the Grain Bo and Luke.

Once again the LB BA Silhouette release on everbrite went supersmooth. In and out in 3 minutes!

 

Yeah, looks like they will last longer than the .03 seconds that the CW19 tickets made it before selling out on BPT!

 

Wow, after striking out on CW and Toppling events, getting BA Silhouette so fast and easy sure brightens my day!

its cause they are carted/reserved. if its anything like last year, they will drop out of carts and reappear.

 

damn, totally spaced on the BA sill tickets this year.

Gone in 7 minutes. What mingo said. If you aren't in yet, keeping backing out and hitting F5 and try to go back in. If people let them expire in their cart you might get lucky.

They still had bottles when I stopped at 5pm yesterday
