I am telling myself to avoid the lure of the Christmas beer this season. Since last year I tried quite a few of them on New Years Eve and woke up with ofcourse one of the worst hangovers in my life. The solution of sugars, spices and higher alcohol content is going to bite you in the ass every time.

Food water and pacing. No problems.

Haven't noticed this, and had some earlier this week.

    Water, paracetamol/advil are your friends.

Well said. If you try crushing winter warmers, you'll get destroyed.

If you hydrate well and eat and pace yourself, you'll have no issues. Hydration is what so many folks forget. I drink as much water (at least) as I do beer, and I haven't had a hangover since ..... I can't remember. Maybe 20 years?

True enough... I haven't been drinking for 20 years, but haven't had one because of beers in age for sure.

Lots of water (more than you think), a good super B complex and 3 ibuprofen before bed... Like Billy Dee says, it works every time...

Doing that and after 3 beers and water plus dinner I just can't hold any more in my stomach.

I personally have noticed that good hydration is key to avoiding any symptoms of a hangover. That being said . . . I haven't noticed any significant increase in hangovers from Christmas beers compared to other libations.

Yeah, what the other BAs said and avoid the high ABV beers. There are plenty of Christmas beers in the 6-8% range.

Terrible advice, unless you like irritating your already-irritated stomach lining (from drinking so much) leading to possible stomach bleeding.

Not saying you should take it daily and on high dosage though, to be clear... Unless you suffer from chronic migraine... the water advice stands too.

I can't imagine ever wanting to crush winter warmers. There are a few I've enjoyed, but none that I'd want more than one of. I'm not a Christmas beer fan, I'm holding out hope for xocoveza though.

I believe you'll really enjoy Xocoveza - but it's not crushable. My son and I split a 6er last Christmas, and I was DONE for the evening.

I only got a single, my beer budget is taking enough of a hit with all the BA stouts. I couldn't justify $18 a sixer for something I haven't had yet. It doesn't seem to be the type of beer I normally like, but iwith what I've been hearing about it, I need to try it.

Yeah that's the advil but is the least of your worries. Paracetamol = acetaminophen. Mixing that with alcohol can be deadly.

Me too. Cooking all day and mixing lots of different alcohol makes it easy to be sick the next day. Try and stick to your usual and give in only a little. I have one beer for xmas day. It's a bomber. 10%. As drunk as I could get drinking that I will not have nearly the bad time I would have if I mixed that with other beer styles at a high abv.
