My fiancee and I are passionate beer nerds. We came together to agree that this one major thing that unites us would be our ideal place for a wedding with all other components factored in (e.g. love autumn/winter, leaves changing, etc.) We absolutely love IPAs, so what better than a wedding at a NE brewery where IPAs are featured? Unfortunately, we are located in Pennsylvania, so it's not that easy to just drop by possible venues. We're turning to you, BA, for suggestions on good potential locations for a small, intimate brewery venue. Any help, contacts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We're thinking Vermont for its relative proximity and autumnal picturesque-ness. Not limited to there, it's just our initial thoughts.

I would think that you should make a list of breweries that you would be interested in having the wedding at, then contacting them to see if it could be done. I have seen many breweries post on social media about how they are closed for "private events." Exactly what those events are not usually specified.
BTW, You may also want to consider Ommegang in Cooperstown NY. I don't know that they do this either, but they do have a fantastic location...

Can't beat the beer at Hill Farmstead, however I'm not sure if they do private events like this. Their customer service is great, so shoot them an email and they'll be sure to respond.

Night Shift just outside boston has definitely done weddings inside their tap room / barrel room before, but their location isn't really what you described.

I'm sure there's plenty of other brewery options out there, just keep searching!

Good luck finding your perfect venue!

Foam in Burlington. Great IPAs, On waterfront with wonderful views, indoor and outdoor spaces, walking distance to hotels, shopping, restaurants/bars , and plenty of other activities.

As you think of venues, there aren't a lot that would make sense. Most breweries are very industrial spaces. That being said, Foley Brothers is a great location. No idea if they do it but should meet most of your criteria. Idletyme Brewery in Stowe may also be a good option. They are a brewpub, in the heart of Stowe. Would be a little expensive for hotels etc, but walked no distance to the Alchemist.

I've seen weddings at Nashoba Valley Winery in Central MA. Its a nice spot and they make beer, wine and liquor. Woodstock up in the NH mountains does weddings since they expanded. Its beautiful up there. As mentioned, Night Shift does weddings but its not in a charming area. Maybe Northampton Brewery? They have a big space in a cool building in a charming town and they do events. Of these only Nighshift are known for their hoppy beer.

I had my wedding at an old inn on Wachusett Mountain and then had the after party at Armsby Abbey where we had the back room to ourselves. I would think something like that would be easier to pull off.

Stony Creek in Branford, CT is a great spot by the water, really cool brewery and the wedding space is actually pretty cool. But I'm not a huge fan of their beer overall.

It isn't in New England technically but Peekskill Brewing is a nice brewpub right along the Hudson with some very nice beers. They may be able to do something. Not sure they are exactly an event place normally but they do have a dining room as well as a bar.

i'd wait for wither Treehouse's new place or maybe even see if the Trillium destination spot will develop. But if you are looking at doing this soon I'd second FOAM in Burlington, VT.

Having just talked to Tree House about something similar, they said that the plan to have private events/etc is significantly down the road and not something that seemed reasonable to wait for.

How many people are you expecting?

Prettiest breweries I know of in Vermont are Hill Farmstead, Bent Hill (tiny but beautiful location) and Foley Brothers.

Personally, I'd give Foley Brothers a call. I believe they have a winery as well and it appears they host parties. Not sure if winery is on same grounds as brewery.

I recently planned a wedding in the Chicago area (from living in Boston) and visited a brewery as one of our four potential locations and the one I really wanted to like going into visits. The sense I got from that brewery and other non-traditional venues we looked at was that there would be a ton more work involved. We would have been working on finding and coordinating vendors in a place we don't live for tables and chairs, decorations, catering, etc., where this was all mostly taken care of at the country club we ended up at.

I echo this comment. Stony Creek is a fantastic location for a brewery wedding. They do weddings/private events fairly often so they have good experience.

The beer isn't great, but the location and building are perfect.

This is along the lines of what we were thinking of. We recognize that most breweries are quite industrial without much ambiance. Having ceremony off-site and the actual reception at the brewery is definitely an option. The wedding is not going to be that big - maybe 30 - 50 people.

Thank you all for your responses and suggestions so far!

Check out the Mt Burke area -- I added some links below. Nice selection of solid wedding venues with some of the best (underrated) scenery. The area also offers a decent pick of B&Bs, hotels, and restaurants nearby. Added bonus: lots of outdoor recreation, like mt biking, hiking, etc.

Most venues in the Mt Burke area have decent local VT beer (Fiddlehead, etc). Only about 40 mins from HF. About 25 mins from Kingdom taproom, which typically has a strong selection of HF on tap.

Although not as "bumping" as Burlington area, Mt Burke offers a quaint and quiet VT feel w/o ever feeling too secluded b/c there are copious view of famous mountains (Mount Pisgah, Mt Burke, etc.) and never too far away from hospitality.

Highly suggest investigating this area! Let me know if you have any questions.

    The Inn at Mt View

Edit: You could also schedule a party bus and do a brewery tour -- there are travel agencies that run tours to various VT breweries, could pick your party up and drop off.

I live 2 miles down the street from Nashoba Winery and it really is a beautiful location. There are weddings there every weekend, but their beer is barely ok and it isn't IPA focused. What is more important to you guys? Is it having really great New England IPA's or having your wedding at an amazing location? If beer is more important, then I would stay away from Nashoba, but if you want an amazing location, then Nashoba is a great place.

I had my wedding at Harrington Farm on the back side of Wachusett 17 years ago Monday, unfortunately the Abby didn't exist back then, but I was just there last night for dinner.
