Fancied something special today, but low ABV% due to hitting it a little too hard last night. This fits the bill.

It's the over-looked baby brother of the family for sure. I'm enjoying it though. Great lemony/ pale malt/ spicy/ grassy balance are my impressions so far

Good morning BA, have a great Thursday! This holiday week is passing by pretty fast, but thankfully not too fast. I ended up playing Battlefield 4 for 5 hours last night. Probably going to a similar amount later on. My new desktop PC is so awesome. Going to be gaming a lot more now moving forward.

Awesome porter. Flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, peanut butter, caramel, toffee, toasted brown bread, and light herbal hops. Light herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied; nice moderately creamy/silky mouthfeel; slight chalkiness from the PB and roast malts. A touch drying. Great classic porter flavors with a lot of PB presence. Grabbed a 6 pack last night. Really love it. Tempted to get some of the imperial version now too. I remember loving that just as much as the regular.

Amazing as always. Flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, light mango, and pine hops; with wheat, bread, light honeyed malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, grassy, spicy bitterness. Medium bodied; balanced grainy malt creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly resinous, with increasing bitter dryness; never astringent. Really well balanced IPA, classic Willamette and C hop flavors. I got a 1 month old pack earlier this week.

Jan 2014 batch. Incredible! Huge dense flavors of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, fudge, toasted dark bread, smoke, and light char; with some herbal/piney hops and light licorice/dark fruits. Moderate roast/char and piney hop balancing bitterness on the finish. Very full body creamy/silky/slick feel; some light sticky/chalky roast and hop notes; and increasing bitter dryness. Very smooth, lightly warming ABV. Definitely one of my favorite RIS, very true to style all the way through. I prefer it with a year or two under it's belt to tone down the hops. This is getting close to tasting like rich choclate cake on flavors after nearly 3 years; but there is still a really solid amount of hop bitterness and roast/char dryness as you work through the glass. A true classic.

2016 batch is tasting amazing! Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, dark bread, and light licorice/dark fruits. Balanced bittersweet roast/char and tannic bourbon/oak finish. Full bodied creamy, silky, slick mouthfeel, with light chalky roast notes. Bit of increasing tannic and roast/char dryness. Lightly warming finish, with zero boozy barrel notes. Amazing malt, coffee, and barrel balance. I definitely think this years batch was an improvement over last year. Feels much richer and denser on body than I recall; and less overpowering on the barrel character. Glad I bought multiple packs this year, and will do so again next year.

@dee4maine I can't blame you for choosing the Jolly Woodsman! One of my favorite beers right now. And, as far as that brewery name, I had to look it up at least a couple times while I was typing :wink::grinning::grinning:

An interesting one, brewed without hops, it gets its bitterness from roast, and drying spice from added cardamom. Pretty good if not a little strange.

    Morning BA's

Not digging this cheesy label, but I like the beer, and the $8.99 / sixer price!
