Drinking JIL from a fill from yesterday...I see what the hype is all about with NE IPAs. Holy crap, this is one of the best beers I've had in a long time. I had a few others while I was there yesterday, and honestly, its nice to know i'm only 30 minutes away.

One of the best breweries i've been to in a long time. I'm really hoping they get super succesful, because they deserve it.

 

Yeah Chris is killing it now, his pale's have been all been solid, now adding the imperial's to the arsenal.

Don't support that stuff...I'm sure it's good, but does Transient need to rake people over the coals like that?

These beers aren't cheap to make. This is a fair price.

 

As I mentioned in another thread, I have no idea what costs are involved with making these beers, but I'm relatively sure that places like Treehouse and Trillium charge comparable prices. Hell, Half Acre was charging $15 a 4-pack for Cliffs, and that wasn't a DIPA.

I'm not saying I love $20 4-packs, but freshness (and excellence, obviously)has a price.

 

Don't buy it then. Tons of hops in these beers and it is priced in line with similar beers from Trillium and Treehouse without the hassle of shipping/trades.

 

It's not that far in pricing from something like Todd the Axeman either. That price point is around the breaking point for me personally, though, as this style doesn't do it as much for me. Add in my attempt at showing some restraint, and it kept me from going out today to grab some Juice is Loose. I'll just hope it's available in growler form at some point during the summer when I'm driving to/from Detroit or staying at the beach nearby.

 

Pints of JIL were 8 bucks at Transient when I had on tap in September. Honestly this stuff blows any of Hailstorm's 3 NE style brews out of the water. My buddy is hooking me up with a Mellotron next weekend, so maybe that's a more equal comparison.

 

So that's what'll stop you from buying beer in a style you don't like!

If you like citra hops and happen to visit Michigan a lot (gee, I have no idea about that last part!), I'd recommend trying it if Transient has it on tap. It's a fantastic take on citra.

 

Plus a growler (or howler) will be more $ per ounce than a 4 pack will be.
