    Hey it's 5:00 somewhere
I won't drink before or during work but the rest of the time, is my time

I've always wondered why it's OK to have a Bloody Mary with a beer back or multiple Mimosa's in the morning but crack a beer and see how wrong it seems.

It's time we all band together to change that stigma so it's a Breakfast Stout for me

OMG, how could I leave out that bastion of the beautiful beer?!?

Yes, @Trooperbob: check out New Beer Sunday and join in. The cost is super cheap, just a few words on what you think of the new beer. And Maria is right: BAs be coming out *EARLY* for their new beers on a Sunday -- and they ain't all typical "breakfast" beers. IPAs, pale lagers, dark lagers, sours straight from the lemon patch ... everything goes in NBS.

I mean, beer is basically fermented bread, and stouts have roasted malts. So you're basically just having toast for breakfast. Sounds fine to me.

I figured Terrapin's Wake N Bake would be pretty good in the morning....

I think a breakfast beer is fine for the exact reasons you outlined. After all, I'd rather have a beer with breakfast and be ready for the day instead of starting my day with a hard liquor....

I don't plan on having any breakfast beers this New Year's day. I'm staying a friend's house, and knowing them, I'll probably already be up, go for a run, and have had coffee by the time they roll out of bed complaining about the light and noise level

NBS is really like "early bird special NBS" 'cause by 9:30 PM it pretty much turns into "late night NBS."

Update. So, I did not have beer for breakfast,But! I did go to the local brewery 'Warped Wing' and had a Whisky Rebellion which is a 10% imperial stout at around 12.15pm. Have to say it was amazing. Bought a 2 pack to go for $22 (yikes). Also got a howler of their new brown ale. Anyways, I didn't quite make the deadline. Maybe tomorrow...

Call me weird. But I have a confession. I have never really had a cup of hot coffee, like EVER. I have never been to Starbucks and don't generally have an urge for caffeine in the morning. But I do love coffee beers, which makes me think that I'd probably like hot coffee (like A LOT OF IT).

Which leads me to ask, how much caffeine do you think is in FBS? I love that beer, and now some 14 months since entering NM, I have had countless cases without needing a trade partner. Is there enough of a caffeine kick to make a morning beer a truly sustainable operation?

I turned half of a FBS keg into a makeshift Xocoveza mix (probably adding too much coffee). But that stuff really amped me up to extreme levels. Presumably the caffeine. I dont get that out of FBS solo. Are there any more prominent coffee beers out there? I added a half lb. of whole beans to about 4 gallons of FBS into a serving keg via cheese cloth. I went off recommendations but sort of eye balled it. I can't say I hated the amped up feeling but I wonder if its there in other store bought beers.

Per the FBS label, we're obviously expected to use FBS instead of water to make oatmeal! One of the twins - Billy or Teddy - is shown presumably eating oatmeal made with FBS. It's OK though, they're really 21 - coffee stunted their growth

You're forgiven as long as you follow through tomorrow (Sunday). I have one queued up in the fridge, and I'm planning to have an FBS breakfast myself. Just occurred to me, a KBS would have worked also since it too has breakfast in the name.

I'm glad this thread is here. Some months back, my wife and I started enjoying sharing a barrel aged stout on Sunday mornings. BCBS, KBS, Damon, etc... We make our daughter's pancakes and after a coffee, we split a nice stout. Makes the day feel special and relaxing.

Haven’t done it often, but for some early beer releases my wife and I have poured a KBS into a thermal mug and sip on it while we wait in line.

As long as it has a cover it would not technically be an open container

This is widely believed but legally incorrect. Only an original sealed container may be legally transported. Once the liquid is poured into any other container (flask, cup, etc.) that container is open and subject to a $250 fine or worse in most jurisdictions. In 49 States anyway, Louisiana does their own thing.
