Hopslam Sightings 2017

Is this still a thing?

 

I remember six years ago these would stay on the shelves for a while. Crazy.

 

It seems earlier this year, the last couple it didn't hit Illinois until early February.

 

This will help, but those distributors need to ship it out quickly.

Hopslam doesn't rank as high on the list anymore for me, but that being said, I'll still be looking for a 6-pack.

Now Hop Grandslam on the other hand....

 

Yeah, they really need to come up with a Double Dry HopSlam.

 

Bell's put up a distro timetable yesterday. Week of January 9th for most markets including Chicago.

 

Don't forget:

- This year's doesn't taste as good as 3 years ago

- There are so many better DIPA options out there

- Where are the hops in this beer?

Anyway, I'm glad it's that time of year again....time to enjoy a legit craft DIPA legend. Yes, there may be better options out there. Yes, there are cheaper DIPAs and yes, your palate has likely changed if you've been enjoying this stuff for the past 10+ years like some of us have. But that doesn't mean it can't still be appreciated as a standout beer.

 

The original. Without Hopslam paving the way we wouldn't have the endless options available like we do now. I still look forward to it every year.

 

concur with the last 2 posts. I still remember vividly my first hopslam at the café in 2006. changed my life

 

I checked my Untappd check in and it was 1/30/16 (and I was seeking it out on BeerMenus). One nice thing about having a beer like Hopslam annually as it's a good check on how your tastes change over time

 

I know that I will be buying my annual case come Friday or Saturday.

 

Okay, I guess I forgot to factor in that it probably hits the city a little earlier than the burbs (almost certain I got mine on 2/4 last year).

It's still one of my favorite limited releases. Hopefully I can snag two or three 6-packs.

 

I'll grab at least one 6 pack, and look forward to it. I do recall a TON of this stuff being around Chicago last year, like a month or more after it was released. Stacks of it were at LP Binny's for quite some time.

 

So you're saying Bell's may be responsible for global colony collapse by overworking bees to death so they have enough honey to make all that Hopslam?​

I need more of that in my life.

Timing seems almost the same as last year. I drank a crowler of it the same day I went to the auto show with my dad. So that would have been the 22nd or 23rd.

 

hopslam is a kind reminder that the new year has started. For a lot of folks it was their first BIG IPA. It's been around since before the big IPA boom let alone the haze craze, etc. better offerings or not, hopslam is the reminder of how long bells has been doing this and doing this well...

 

This thread just reminded me that i blacked out last super bowl trying to polish off my hopslam mini keg.
