I'll keep this short and sweet:

    1. Anybody know what the heck is up with Hop Henge this season? Did they kill it?

    2. Is there any chance we will see Hop In The Dark ever again? One of my favorite CDAs, would be a tragedy if this is gone for good.

Hop in the Dark was discontinued a long time ago for retail.

I know that it has been a while since the last bottling, but I seem to recall a similar large gap of time between the last bottling and the one before it.

By adding "for retail", are you implying that they still occasionally make it for draft sale?

Can't add much that others haven't already, but yes Hop Henge is no more, and Hop in the Dark hasn't been available for a couple of years as well. They've moved to smaller six-pack offerings of rotating IPA's instead. I believe Sagefight essentially replaced Hop Henge for now. Deschutes will also be releasing more small-batch & pilot series beers this year and beyond.

Yeah, I just remember there being a similar sabbatical that it took between like 2012-2014ish as well. I have been holding out hope that they will re-brew this again one day...

That kinda makes sense to me, even though the timing is a bit off (I remember Hop Henge being a Dec/Jan affair).

Happy to see cans of Mirror Pond. As I mentioned in the thread in "News and Releases" forum, I hate that 19pointWhateveroz format can. it's roughly equivalent to a 22, and that format is dropping deader than the Clantons at the OK Corral. I don't understand the move.

i thought the same thing, Terry. First reaction was, "Ooh, a new can format." And then I saw "19.2oz" and thought it might as well be a damn bomber. I suppose it would fit in my beer mini-fridge better than a bomber, but I'll still pass. Sixers of Deschutes I haven't had any many moons, though ...

Those 19.2 oz. cans make me think of malt liquor, which probably isn't fair, since those are sold in even larger cans.

I like an imperial pint in the proper glass, but as a can or bottle size it strikes me as odd. Are there that many imperial pint glasses out there going unused for the lack of a can that fills them in a single unit? Is it that much of a hassle to open two 12-ounce cans? Is it so offensive that a tallboy leaves a 3.2 ounce gap at the top of my nonic pint glass? Is it such a crime that there's beer left in the bottle when I pour from one of the increasingly rare bombers at stately Vurt Manor?

I have a bunch of the stovepipe cans of BA Ten Fidy... I never open them simply as I haven't figured out the awkwardness of the amount lol

Usually if I open a big 22 i'll pour roughly half then use a champagne or wine stopper and come back the next day.

Ditto that. It's easy to restopper a bottle, but when you pop a can, that's it. So my BA Ten Fidy is also sitting in the closet. I have the same problem with crowlers. I can close my quart growler and it's still OK the next day. Not so with the cans.

Some of us enjoy our beer in slightly smaller quantities, but I guess we must not be the target market. This reminds me of going to Munich, and watching the German grandmothers swigging down their liters of pilsner.

And, us modern "craft beer" drinkers think we're bad cuz we drink 16oz cans.

I never thought that 16 oz. cans were bad. There is a certain lingering mindset that says "Buy in bulk for value!" But I do think the hype/backlash for/against "hazy" IPAs is funny because it pretty much perfectly mirrors the reactions to regular IPAs back in the mid- to late-90s.

I meant "bad" as in: Yeah, we bad, we 16oz cans. We be bad. Plus, any excuse to to give Elias McDaniel an appearance:

And any excuse to drop a musical reference from a great album by a band at the very top of their game.
