So excited to have Enigma, Berliner, Strawberry Rhubarb, Snowshoe, Road Slush, Black Top, and especially Hometown Blonde back. It's going to be a great year of NG.

Agreed. Eases the sting of no Cran-Bic but that still hurts.

Yeah I would have bought more Cran-bic had I known. I guess I assumed that would be out every year. Oh well, still have a few left.

Ideally I would drink Hometown Blonde when it's not, you know, five degrees outside, but what are you gonna do? Buy it first chance I get, that's what

    Is Enigma already hitting shelves?

Interesting. When was the style of Spotted Cow switched to Farmhouse Ale from Cream Ale? Just marketing or recipe change?

Damn, Hometown Blonde is brewery-only? :slight_frown:

Style-wise it's always been a Cream Ale. NG just called it a farmhouse ale to make it sound fancy. I guess because WI = lots of farms. Just a marketing thing and new this year, I believe.

Sure hope they don't charge $17 for a 6pk for that Hometown Blonde at the brewery. That would sure be a real kick in the teeth.

    Why would they do that?

Because they charged $17 per 6 pack of Zwickel in 2016. Basically Thumprint pricing on a lager.

This was both: (1) pretty high pricing, and (2) still worth it, in my opinion. Zwickel is fantastic.

But I join people in hoping that HB is cheaper.

Yes it would. Unless they changed the recipe, Hometown Blonde isn't a new beer and we know what the pricing has been for it in the past.

That's worse than Thumbprint pricing--that's more like R&D pricing--like the $5 for the half liter bottles of the 'Original' Two Women (which I thought was close to being worth that price)

I'm not excusing it, but I could see them charging more for the Zwickel as it was a new beer, meaning the recipe was different from the 'original' Zwickel. I am surprised to see they sold it for so much, but it's not the first time they've charged a premium for a brewery-only lager.

All that said, I would definitely pay a bit more (~10-11 bucks) since it appears that this may be the only way we'll get this, or maybe even Edel Pils in the future.

Pretty sure they charged the exact same amount for Zwickel and the Thumbprints at the brewery. Thumbprints are a little more expensive at the brewery than normal retail (as is all their beer - an deliberate attempt to not undercut local retailers).

Gotcha, good to know. It's been way too long since I've been to the brewery. I think the last time I was there, the Thumbprints were in the 12-14 range.
