Just envisioned a Jimmy Stewart 'It's a Wonderful Life' moment except with a lot more neck beards.

For those traveling from Minneapolis to Decorah early Friday: given the snow today and tomorrow, is anyone worried about the road conditions? Thankfully Thursday and Friday are looking clear.

Vacation is when I'm LEAST likely to bring cash.

That would be me. Will probably leave 30-45 minutes before Waze tells me to. Looks like no snow Thursday or Friday in Minneapolis, nor Decorah luckily, so we should be good.

No, but I didn't merely adopt the MN winter, I was born in it, molded by it.

It looks like there is a small chance of light snow early morning on Thursday as well. The snow that we got yesterday and today should be managed by this afternoon and any snow that comes between now and Thursday morning should be managed by Thursday afternoon. Depending on what time you leave the Twin Cities, there could be a little bit of residual slowdown due to the snow/wet. They will do a good job clearing it, it is not like this is our first rodeo with snow.

There are chances that areas once you get out more into the country areas aren't as good, but the main roads should be plowed and treated. I would be catious driving in those areas though, when there isn't as much traffic and only farm land, the wind can do a good job of moving snow. Which can lead to less than disirable conditions.

Sheesh...there's a convenience store with an atm about 75 yards from the TG taproom.

Be warned though that there are no paved roads that far off the interstate in Iowa. With the snow, roads will be heavily rutted and, if warm enough, muddy as hell. Plan to bring a 4x4 if you want to be sure to make it to the taproom. I'd recommend some tall boots as well.

anyone know if I should bring money to Decorah or should I hit up an ATM when I make it to town? Any ATMs that have cheaper fees? is there a chance all the ATMs run out of money and I can't get my bottles since I don't have cash on hand?

No joke. What if I take out the money and by the time I get to Decorah, inflation has skyrocketed. What then!?

Honestly this is a good thought, get cash prior to Decorah. ATMs can easily run out when demand is abnormally high (as it will be on Friday).

The money in your bank accounts will be worth the same as the cash in your wallet, if hyperinflation did in fact occur. If you are going to be snarky, at least be factually correct.

I'm an accountant. I get it. It was just a joke. I'm one of the people who thinks they should announce what bottles/prices already.

I'm planning to hit town 5 minutes before my pick-up window is over, try to cash a personal check at the local grocery store, hope that I got enough money, read all the crap they sent about the release, leave my car running at the gas station while I pick up my bottles, then head back to my basement and make a big pot of KBBS chili. Nice little Friday.

I'm heading down to Decorah Thursday night (with my musket and horse) to decimate all the ATMS in town, good luck finding any cash!

God help us if this conversation is useful anymore, but does anyone know of the best food options in Decorah? Old Armory BBQ looks pretty good .. thoughts?

I have been strategically thinking of how I am going to survive a bottle share when all the restaurants close early there.
