Online Doppelbock Tasting - February 4th

    Hello BA!

    After some discussion in previous online tasting threads, we decided it was time to do a style tasting instead of a specific beer. This is the first of those tastings. On February 4th, drink any new or old Doppelbock and provide your tasting notes in this thread. Tasting begins at 7 PM CST.

    Also, we need to come up with our March tasting! Which will center around one beer as per previous tastings.

    I'm definitely in! We still have close to 2 months before a march tasting, we'll figure it out.

    Right on! My dad got me a 4 pack of Celebrator for Christmas. I plan on opening one up for the tasting. I might pick up a bottle of Korbinian since I last had it about a year ago on tap when I had pretty rough taste buds.

    Yes! so glad to see this style get some love! I'll plan on participating - got some troeganator as well as salvator in the fridge. May have to grab a Celebrator for this.

    Should we just make it a celebrator tasting? :grinning: I have a couple bottles myself. I also still have some Uff-da I brought back from Wisconsin, maybe I'll do that instead.

    In the online idea thread, a few folks brought up and supported the idea of having a few "official" beers for folks to drink during a style tasting to ensure some sort of over lap to compare notes. I failed to mention that in my opening post. I was thinking:

    Celebrator
    Korbinian

    For the official beers, just because they both seem to be distributed so well.

    I could buy some more Samichlaus. Probably will anyways but I'll miss the tasting as Keg & Cork is eventing the national 2X4 day!!

    Haha, I'll do my very best. I feel guilty posting again and again.

    On a side note, Bell's is releasing the Consecrator Doppelbock in February. I'd like to think Bell followed our lead to make February the Doppelbock month :slight_smile: Unfortunately, it probably won't hit shelves in time for our tasting.

    Sweet, I'd love to see how it is, all I've had from upslope is their core beers, and I loved those.

    I also have a few cans the Upslope BA doppelbock left (one reserved for the tasting). I'll also include Aecht Schlenkerla's Doppelbock on the 4th, too.
