For example (and this is just MY opinion), the design of Lagunitas' labels always look dusty/dirty to me so if there is another beer of the same style that I want I always go with it. I know intellectually this makes no sense, but ... >shrug<. Discuss.

When I'm looking for something new to try, artwork that I like or a catchy name is a big deciding factor of what I'll grab.

I am sort of in the middle on this one. I try and focus on good beer or brands I know are good. The cool label is a perk if I know the beer is good, I always enjoy creative art and graphics. But I will admit I have snagged a few odd ball beers because they just looked dam cool, a few were great and some sucked.
So I guess my vote would be yes labels play a roll.

I'm not so much grabbed by label design, than by what is written on the label to describe the beer. A cool beer design is an added bonus, especially if the beer is good!

Aside from beers with well known reputations, I'd say the label is one of the big deciding factors for people trying new beers, whether they'll admit it or not.

When trying new beers artwork does seem to stick out, but I tend stick to brands I know and like a lot.

A bright-colored label might catch my attention first, but I don't let any label design influence my purchase. Ninety-nine percent of the time I know what I'm looking for, so that is my sole 'influence'.

Absolutely. Half the battle is catching the consumers eye. Everyone knocks marketing, but marketing counts. Now, the label doesn't have to be some artistic masterpiece, as long as it is clean, simple and appealing, it gets me to take a second look.

Not really, I'm much more influenced by the advertised beer style.

Most of the time, no. I have a pretty good idea of what I want when I head to the store. I also like to buy a lot of random German and Polish beers I've never had before, and those labels aren't terribly exciting.

Some of the time, though, yes.

    This one got me...

I try to just go by what the liquid is but sometimes I do get swayed by a pretty bottle. One thing I do like in a label is if they put things like abv, what hops were used and most importantly, when it was canned or bottled!

That's a good question. Aesthetics tend to please the eye, so I can see how anyone would be influenced by visual stimulation. I'm pretty sure I've reached for a beer or two, solely based on design. That said, some of the best beers I've ever had the pleasure of consuming have some of the most muted can designs in existence. If Clown Shoes (sorry) put as much effort into their brewing process as they did into their labels, they'd have the best beer in rotation. I say all this knowing that if I saw a can of some well endowed blonde touting an IPA, I'd buy it on principle alone.

    LARRRGE...

The label might catch my eye when scanning the shelf but that alone never makes the purchasing decision.

I am still waiting for Stone to put out of beer in a bottle that looks like a stone. LOL

The new design New Belgium has come out with has got me reconsidering avoiding their core stuff. Seems edgy

Another thing I like to look at is the design of the bottle cap  . Now i sound really shallow :grinning::wink::rolling_eyes:

The vast majority of my new beer purchases are of what I've either seen or read about here on BA.The rest simply interest me based on what's in the package, so overall the labels don't play a big part for me. Only when I recognize something from WBAYDN  .
