100% understand this sentiment and I totally agree that the situation is frustrating to say the least. Of course, these bottles may see the light of day in a to-go situation, just not at first, which is nice for the locals, but I want to raise a larger question to ponder which is something that has come up time and time again - how should bottles with a clear high (illegally sold) secondary market value be released? We have a ton of bad actors here in St. Louis (either from the area or who travel down to STL) who are paying off their mortgages by flipping SP bottles. This isn't conjecture, it's a fact, again, by both putting your ear to the ground (knowing the bad actors, etc.) or through a simple Google search. Outside of banning these folks from attending releases (which won't do anything anyways - they will just get their 'friends' to do the exact same thing) I honestly don't know if much, if anything can be done, outside of the on-site only solution.

It's a tough nut to crack for sure.

The only thing that has seemed to help Casey in combating resale is the Extended Family (Casey's bottle club). One rule of the EF is if anyone is caught making a profit off of Casey bottle they will be kicked out. If too many people are caught doing this then the EF will dissolve, thus ending the luxury of conveniently and leisurely purchasing bottles online for members.

So instead of having their own staff surveying the secondary market websites and facebook auction groups for these types of transaction the Extended Family, who are the biggest advocates of Casey, willing do this works for them. With a couple hundred members now that's a lot of eyes out the reporting this stuff to Casey.

Side Project may be too "big" to implement something like this at this point but make the membership invite only, and only invite people you trust will not sell your bottles for profit. At this point you know who your good customers are.

I know, I wished I lived closer. I would make the pilgrimage often! Been lucky enough to try a lot of great beers from Side Project through generous traders so far.

So long as I have to write an essay that is no fewer than 100 words, I'M IN.

Don't think anybody mentioned it yet, but Black and Berry, Langst and Derivation 6 bottles are coming soon.

Plus SdB #6 and Foedre Fermier still available to go....

Only 120 bottles of D6!? Looks like Wine and Cheese Place will see a big spike in sales as people try to move up

The small bottle count for Derivation 6 is so disappointing.
I think it would be a PR nightmare, but it wouldn't be too hard to track the sale of a bottle through a bar code to a particular individual. The problem is what to do with that information. Probably wouldn't be too hard to ban people who are resellers. When people pay good money in a sales transaction, they expect to do whatever they want with their purchased item. But all of this could be avoided if people weren't buying in the secondary market. The buyers are just as guilty of facilitating this nonsense and they don't care.

Will be going to Side Project for the first time this weekend coming from CA/HI! Pretty stoked at the list and for Jammy onsite.

Anyone else making it out there (sat/sun)? Would love to split bottles if possible since the prices are higher and big bottle format. PM me!

Might be a limited crowd this weekend as St Louis is going to get slammed by a major ice storm in the next 6-12 hours. Be safe if you are out and about this weekend. Calling ahead to SP to make sure they're open wouldn't be the worst idea.

We still have SDB Blend 6 and SDF from the foedre available to-go as I type this. Being that we are having an ice storm, we are not open tonight and we will have the beer available to go at both locations tomorrow if the weather permits!
    Cheers,

Any clue if Foedre Fermier or Oude Du Ble make it to the weekend? Making my first trip to SP from Cincy and I'm really hoping to take a couple of bottles home Saturday. Thanks.
