FYI, Vanilla Rye isn't on the Beermenus list anymore.

Haha, I didn't come here for the VR, my post was directed to those talking about it being removed from beermenus. I was lucky enough to have it on tap when it was on last year and $60 is too rich for my blood. Was talking to the bartender and she said it lasted an hour and a half. I suffered through an Abraxas instead.

 

I arrived a bit late and "suffered" thorough a regal rye while a nice gentleman offered to share some of his VR with me. Nice to know there's almost always a stand-up guy around to help you in your quest.

 

Yeah, it's nice to hear this stuff. Too often you hear stories of people hoarding beer and being rude assholes, so it's great to be reminded that the majority of us are actually pretty cool and generous dudes/dudettes.

 

I'm thinking beers which can only be consumed on site (i.e., actually have to be drank) might attract more folks on the latter side of your last sentence.

 

Definitely helps when it's people that are actually going to DRINK the beer.

While I agree with you in this particular case, my observations at DLD (where there's honestly no reason to even bring beer, because everyone else will do it for you) have shown me that people will go out of their way to share beer.

 

haha. Sorry, I wasn't diminishing the kind deed in any way. Just that on site consumption seems to filter out a certain segment of folks who aren't particularly interested in, well, consumption. Particularly when it comes to something like Vanilla Rye. But yeah, I agree that DLD seems to be an exception in some ways but it's a bit different of a scenario too. I think we'll both agree that it's good to see folks sharing and drinking beer rather than hoarding and hiding it. Needs to happen more often. Cheers.
