I've thankfully never had the issue with craft beer, but I've had some slushy Budweiser's before. I can imagine that your brew will taste much more alcoholic like it did in my situation.

Used to put btls. out on the windowsill in Vt in the winter while going to college. In the morning one could get up and suck the alcohol off the top. Of course it was crappy beer back then ! :grinning:

Never had much luck with frozen bottles. Seems as it expands it messes with the cap allowing in air which kills the carbonation. Generally flat and unappealing beer.

Happened to me at a tailgate party with a Brit who confused Celsius with Fahrenheit. What we ended up doing is chiseling the frozen gold into very large tubs after purchasing a bunch of 24packs nearby, and filling the tubs with the unfrozen drinks, stirring the concoction with a huge BBQ spatula, till it all settled into some midway temperature. A lot of fun was had scooping this concoction up into big red cups and really having at it!

Not sure if this helps you but I can say it really made a great day out of a potential burn the brit scenerio.

While not the most ideal, I try to save what I can by throwing it all into a blender and blending all the ice and whatnot. I pour it into a huge mug from Germany and kind of have to constantly swirl it around as I drink. Couple mugs into this and my swirling tends to just make a mess but I've never had a terrible night doing this.

The carbonation will be different if they freeze and then thaw. I bought a sixer of something from sam adams years ago and it was perfectly fresh and perfectly flat. It was very cold that year and I thought the beer had frozen in transport or in storage before it hit the shelves. I wrote the brewery who said that is what does happen when beer freezes and thaws. They gave me my money back btw. They did. They did not say take it back to the store. ( that's another thread)
