Does anybody know if the Royal Lager mugs they showed the other day are still available?

Tired Hands: not just over-priced beer, now an over-priced head shop!

The glass is actually pretty fairly priced for a handblown piece.

As long as it doesn't explode when you use it like some of their growlers...

The instagram comments for the glasses are hilarious. People loved getting worked up over stupid stuff....

If you don't want the glass don't buy it! It's pretty simple. I think they look kinda cool but I'd never pay $150 for one.

I'm concluding that it has to be a Philly thing. There's tons of "precious" breweries around the country, especially in the Pacific Northwest, who sell expensive beer (that happens to be delicious) that don't get nearly half the flack as TH. I think around here we treat our breweries like just another sports team. We "love" them...and yet...

[edit: altho to be fair, in the PNW craft brew drinkers are VERY particular about "fair" pricing, and they do get very vocal when it comes to prices rising without justification)

We just need Mike to be off on a Wednesday and happen to walk by a row of empty chairs. The next show would be a trip.

Honest question, since I'm not overly familiar with the Pacific Northwest. Can you point out some breweries whose beer descriptions are as insufferable as Tired Hands' are? I haven't seen any that are so high-and-mighty, and that's what I find so off putting.

Yeah these are a bit wordy, but I don't see any words like precious, otherwordly, transcendental, triumphant, profound, etc. that would normally be reserved for things much more important in life than beer.

Locally, this is similar to how Hidden River's beer descriptions are typically way too long, but they don't come across as arrogant or douchey to me. Because they are still just typically describing the ingredients in the beer, instead of claiming greatness or superiority like Tired Hands does.

Not trying to dump on the fire here but I just had Paper Mansions, not good. Really strong medicinal burn and that's coming from a skeptic to this. I can't get rid of it either. That's a problem when you're charging nearly a dollar an ounce.

I don't mind the flowery descriptions, I think this area gets way too uptight when it comes to the Tired Hands vibe. It's probably driven by the ridiculous system in place right now but still. Basically every post has some nonsense comments attached to it, I don't see that on other breweries of this ilk, just relax and have fun and drain pour that Paper Mansion.

Yeah, I've had both and it's the same flavor and burn as the Mago Tago cans.

That batch they made in between these two didn't have a medicinal burn though!

So odd...I had it last week or so and thought it was rather tasty. Didn't get hardly any burn or anything remotely similar to the mago cans experience.

maybe instead of puree fruit they should start doing it the old fashion time consuming way... just an idea... i'd expect $40 4pks however if they did seeing as how it used to be like a 12hr day of fucking with fruit for an employee or two and a volunteer when they would do those fruit beers at the cafe

sometimes you just can't scale shit up properly unless you really want to throw a lot of resources towards the end goal, doubt they want to do that seeing as how they are making large sums of $ regardless of how they do it
