Yeah, I think we would definitely want to have some other stuff, especially if there is a Treehouse connection that I know a lot of people would want to try.
Agree with this...I'd much prefer a smaller number in order to get a decent pour!

The TH thing makes sense, but...c'mon dude, we all know the point of a bottle share is to TICK! Who cares how much of the beer you get to drink, it's all about giving each and every beer 5 stars on Untappd, and saying "(insert adjunct) bomb, #whalez4dayz"

Just bring your BCBS Rare - plenty of that for everyone

In this vein, while sharing some whalez are great, I'd hope that aspect doesn't overshadow the share - I much prefer shares with no pressure to bring a whalez, but rather is just good beer that people like and bring to share. It can be out of distro stuff, stuff people might not have had before, or an expensive beer that other might not buy, anything like that.

    Couple of thoughts.

    1. 10-12 people for a max. Many more than that are your drinking 1oz of less samples. I would rather see every person bring two bombers or 1 bombers and 2 16oz cans (basically as close to 44oz as you can get without coming in under). 20 bottles assuming bombers puts the total at 44oz per person which is plently IMO.

    2. I would be more interested personally in going for rarer/harder to obtain beers. Dont get me wrong im fine with an open setting but nobody needs to taste the diabetuss stouts from the brewery for the upteenth time or BA Deschutes, or Darkness, or things along that line.

    3. With 10 ppl a theme nights could be alot of fun. Whales, Sours, Stouts, ect.

    4. Along with the attendance thing. We should start a Facebook group so that we can post a share and the first 10-12 spots that get called are in. Not everyone will make every share but small numbers ensures not only better friendships but better shares as well.

    5. Throw one big blow out share. As many ppl as can come can come but if you dont get to try everything no hard feelings.

Same here, and I started this! If it moves to FB, I'll create a share for us non-FB folk.

Not that I'm judging, but I'm always stunned by how many people still aren't on Facebook in 2017 (especially given how lively the FB craft beer pages are ).

    1. It doesnt have to be through facebook. Just an idea. More than happy to keep it on here.
    2. Facebook has some amazing groups. Beer, Whisky, and Wine is pretty much all I use it for anymore.
2a. Facebook also has alot of toxic shit that comes with it so I understand staying far away.

Have you read the posts from my family?

I always said, if the point of FB is to stay connected with friends and family, then me joining it would defeat the purpose. I would end up with zero friends and an entire family that won't talk to me -- I couldn't control myself and avoid commenting about every inane political comment they make.

I probably have a different perspective since my university was one of the FB test groups right after the Ivy Leagues, so I've been on FB for a looooooooooong time. It's helped me keep in contact with some old friends (and meet up for craft beer, no less!), and it's otherwise relatively harmless to me.
Hey, don't get me wrong, there's a lot that's messed up on FB, but that's true of most of the internet these days. There's a reason I either avoid adding my family on FB, or unfollowing/hiding posts from the rest. In terms of friends, I'm generally of a like mind with the ones on my Facebook, so that doesn't end up being problematic. But I have friends on FB whose friendslists are filled with toxic people, so I get it.

I wasn't criticizing people not on FB; it's just such a normalized part of my life at this point (I've literally had it for almost 15 years, now) that it's hard to believe people around my age managed to avoid it this long.

I choose to waste my time on Beer Advocate instead of Facebook. Fewer fake news items and annoying relatives/fringe acquaintances.

Assuming you all have an email, we could just set up a group in Google and use a Google Sheet to keep track of attendees and what people are bringing. The number of attendees can be set by locking the number of rows, and that can be changed as needed depending on the type/location/whathaveyou of each share. Plus, people could easily see what others are bringing.

Actually, I'm happy to moderate this and get things going. Feel free to BM your email addresses rather than posting them on a public forum.
