We agreed upon a trade involving my Last Buffalo x 2 + Morningwood + 4 pack mixed Other Half and Civil Society Hops + extra Funky Buddha Bomber not part of the trade for Casey Leaner and Fou Foune.

I sent my package on December 28th which we both agreed upon. @bikesnbeerFtc however waited until January 5th to ship. The temperatures dropped into the teens and the Fou Foune exploded. I was at work and received a call from Fedex and left immediately to pick it up as they had not opened it yet. I contacted him on my way letting him know at least one of the bottles had busted. He quickly responded saying he had replacements for each beer. I let him know as soon as I got the box that the Fou Foune was not broke but had blown the the cap and cork.(this of course was due to the freezing temps).

He assured me that he would replace it the day it was delivered on January 10th. He then sent me a text message January 14 (last Saturday) that he would ship on Monday and shoot me a tracking number. Yesterday, January 20th. I had yet to hear anything, so I sent him a text message saying "I'd appreciate an update.

I am trying to be patient but I haven't heard anything since Saturday when you said it would ship Monday". With no response I have pretty much accepted that I will not see this bottle. I just want to let others in the community know my experience with @bikesnbeerFtc. I reviewed his feedback before agreeing to the trade and he did have one previous negative feedback. Each feedback following that one it appeared he was doing great trying to rebuild his rep, sending nice extras etc. He did send me a nice extra but does not negate the fact that one of the 2 bottles that I traded for did not arrive intact.

And another profile that has when they were last on-line blocked. Mods, can you enhance the system so one of the conditions for having beer trading rights is a profile everyone can see.

I had to track down another fou and told him I would replace it. Given the difficulty of finding fou it took a little. I told him I was sorry. I don't usually experience problems shipping bottles to the southeastern us.

I was going to make it right which required tracking down another fou from a buddy. It took a little longer than anticipated.

Eric has contacted me and let me know the situation and that he sincerely had every intention to make it right. I should not have been so quick to judge without giving him more time. I feel confident that we can delete this bad trader thread after communicating with him.

Unfortunately, (see bolded above) that's not how this works. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If you were concerned about starting this thread, then you could have contacted one of the *moderators* ahead of time for advice

You chose to start the thread....Ands it's obvious, it got the ball rolling in the right direction again. You can't just ask for it to go away like it was never posted now that you may or may not get the Fou.

Thread will stay open until this is resolved and Eric will be tagged as a *bad trader* to make sure it continues in the right direction. Once resolved....Tag will be removed, so there is some incentive to get this done sooner, rather than later.

    @JChurchwell @bikesnbeerFtc

    Cheers!

Eric is an A+ trader. Awesome extra to go with a trade for some big ISO. Would definitely trade again!

^^^^this is what you changed the feedback to without having the Fou replaced and having to start a *bad trader* thread.

This is exactly what doesn't help the community...Just stating the obvious

Please update when you receive your replacement Fou.

I will, and I apologize. I understand your point. I just wanted to trade for some bet I couldn't otherwise get. @bikesnbeerFtc feels bad as do I for the way things have turned out. I believe he has every intention to make it right after communicating with him. I will wait until I receive the replacement and update the feedback afterwards.

From what we know, I feel like staying on top of the communication with clear and candid updates would have avoided this thread all together.

I can say I would also have been a little worried when the purposed shipping date came and went without an update.

    Communication is key.

Weather can take an ugly turn overnight during the winter months. IF shipping is delayed the shipper must ascertain that the later time will also be within a safe temperature range. This is particularly important with lower abv beers. Ship early in the week so a box isn't sitting in a cold truck or warehouse over the weekend.

Choose temps safe for the most vulnerable bottles even if they're non-essential lowly extras. Burst bottles risk alerting FedEx/UPS to the presence of beer & can put the entire shipment in jeopardy.

Good communication is even more essential during the cold months to ensure the safety of the beer.

I recently had four boxes arrive unexpectedly during a nasty cold snap with sub zero temps. Despite including a multitude of lower abv beers everything arrived safely. I suspect the styrofoam shippers provided protection against the cold.

If there is going to be delays in shipping due to *weather*, please update/ communicate to the community so we can take that into consideration as we follow this through.

    Cheers!

This should be resolved by the end of the week. I appreciate everyone being helpful and offering advice. I did open the case with the expectation that I would not see the bottle. I felt even more confident in this when @jrnyc advised that the account had been blocked (Maybe I misunderstood the meaning of this). After communicating I feel a responsibility to let people know that we have and are working together to resolve the matter. I will keep the thread up to date as to when the package arrives. If anyone on here is in any facebook groups, etc that may be discussing this please let others know that we are well on our way to having this resolved. I look forward to putting this behind us and having a fresh start for the both us.

+1 on all points raised by JavaNoire.

IMHO, it is also a VERY good idea to discuss in advance what sort of contingencies should be in place during Winter months. I generally make it clear that I will not ship if there is an expected cold snap, UNLESS my trading partner insists. Everyone knows what that means. The onus is on the recipient if he/she insists on shipping during inclement weather, and something freezes. My point is... don't leave this to speculation and chance. Discuss in advance what sort of expectations you each have in the event there are weather related problems.

As has been stated over and over again (but IMHO, can never be overstated), good communication is always key.

I have sat back an watched this thread develop as one of two people who is actually part of it and I want to throw in my two cents. I'm sorry that this developed to this but I never had any intention of shorting someone on an agreement. I sent the original agreement as stated in the trade.

    1. I sent the original bottles agreed upon and had no idea a freak weather pattern would cause the loss of one. I usually don't think of the Southeastern US as a place I worry about freezing. The other bottles in the package made it safe. I never intended to screw anyone over. It was one bottle that didn't make it. A Fou which anyone can appreciate as a hard bottle to come across froze in shipping. I intended to make it right and always had that intention. I just had to find a replacement. I'm truly sorry to @JChurchwell but I never expected a problem in shipping.

    2. After this bottle did not make it I experienced attacks not only on this website but facebook and Instagram as well. These attacks were personal including a picture of me (taken off my facebook page) as well as personal information about me and my employer. Attacking me and my livelihood after a bottle of frozen beer. As well as dragging my employer who had nothing to do with it into the issue. I understand your issue against me but is it really necessary to bring in my employer who had nothing to do with it? I understand beer is very important to anyone on this website but going after me and others who were not involved seems a little personal, especially in the way it was pursued.

    3. Beyond the personal attacks I had numerous messages from other "concerned beer traders" that were down right hateful and unjustified from someone who had no knowledge of the situation. So is dogpiling someone who is already down what beertrading has come to? I have never intentionally wronged any one on a beer trade and don't ever expect too. The hate that I have experienced from people I have never talked to before ( on this site and others) makes me wonder if this is all worth it.

Once again I am very sorry @JChurchwell I never meant to try to screw you over. I just think threads like these lead to people saying things directed to people they have resentment for by going on witch hunt. I couldn't stand to sit back and watch people thrash me online with no knowledge of both sides of the story.

    Is this an accurate statement:
Because that doesn't jibe with your statement
"I had to track down another fou and told him I would replace it. Given the difficulty of finding fou it took a little. I told him I was sorry. I don't usually experience problems shipping bottles to the southeastern us. "

I'm not piling on, I'm just curious as to which story is more accurate.
