So, I have my bottles purchased along with the ticket to the event, and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what the event is like. If I go during the day, I will have to bring my little guy (5 months old). If I wait until the evening I may not be able to attend at all.

Some events during the day have plenty of room for a parent to stay out of the way with their kids and not be an issue - Hullabaloo on Sun. Whereas other events seems it would be a nightmare and I wouldn't even consider it - CW Anny party. Either way, I really look forward to getting some bottles of this insanely good beer.

You should be OK during the day. They open up the brewing area and usually have picnic tables and chairs to sit on, so it's not just in the taproom.

The past two years it hasn't been all that busy in the afternoons. It is much more chill than a lot of releases.

BTW, last year they ran out of BA Sil on tap pretty early. Hope that's not the case again this year!

They open the back brewery area so there is a lot of room, but this is their biggest release and it does get busy. Earlier is better and I felt last year started to get busy near bottle pickup. The other thing is it can get pretty loud.

That being said, I think we may be bringing our kids (2 and 4) and I am not super worried about it. I am not sure if I would bring my 5 month old for an extended time though, mostly due to it getting pretty busy and loud. But if you swing in just to get your bottles and maybe a pour, it probably won't be horrible.

Keep in mind that you do have a week after the release to pick up your bottles.

Has anyone confirmed that you can just go in like past years and buy drink tokens or is the event ticket really needed this year? I feel like the wording is a bit different this year around the event ticket being needed to actually attend the event and not just pick up bottles.

Good point. I just assumed it was like previous years and was planning on just paying at the door to enter. I didn't buy the event ticket. If you get clarification please post up!

EDIT: I just emailed Erin at LB and she confirmed you can buy the event ticket at the door. No need to purchase the event ticket on everbrite ahead of time. Cheers!

The one thing I remember from last year is how absolutely deafening their music was during the day. My wife and I sat at a table as far away from the PA system as possible, and we still had to scream at each other.

My $0.02 for the OP - if you're bringing a 5 month old, go at 130pm, check in, grab a beer and drink it while standing in the release line. You should be able to get a beer, get your bottles, and get out the door without much fuss.

One more thing - they don't give bags of any kind with the bottles, so if you're carrying a kid in a car seat in 1 hand, you might want to have a reusable grocery bag or something to make carrying the beer easier.

That is also how I remember it. My pregnant wife was not amused.

This, I forgot just how loud it was until you mentioned this. Remembering that now, I am not sure we will be bringing our kids if we can help it.

The Irish Coffee Stout release was much more low key than BA Silhoutte... and quieter, the kids did just fine there.

    I found out
I spoke with her on the phone and I can confirm that you can buy a ticket at the door and avoid the fee. Just a heads up though, ticket is $6.50 which included a beer token but beer tokens only run $5.50 so there's essentially a $1.00 cover charge to help pay for the bands. Any cheapskate that wants to just pop in and out to pick up their bottles can avoid paying the ticket charge.

At any point (day of release or after) will there be bottles for sale if you did not reserve them in advance?

At open, they have 200 bottles and they will hand out tickets for them. They won't start calling off the numbers until 3 to purchase them though.

Any thoughts on a good time to show up to ensure a person gets one of the tickets?

Last year I showed up a little past noon and there was still plenty. I would show up a little before noon this year.

Yeah, I don't remember that either. Especially in the bar area since the bands were in the back. Maybe it was the year before that it wasn't so loud. It all blends together!

I attended last year with all three of my children (who were 6, 4, and 1). Get there right as they open at 12:00 and you'll find room at a picnic table in the back area for sure.. The bands don't start up until 2:30.

i think the worst thing about this release is the small space and loud music. the only way to escape it is to stay upfront by the bar and bottle collection. $.02.

And to clarify tickets the day of the event are only for regular Silhouette not the BA version?

No, it is for the BA version.
