Not many non-locals know much about TPC but if anyone is ever in RVA this should be a "must stop". Veil and The Answer are well known but now that Triple Crossing is canning they should get a lot of buzz. No disrespect to the others listed above but TPC is making the best IPAs in RVA and likely VA. Battle Creek was out of this world good!

Have they stepped it up dramatically in the past year? I haven't had an IPA by them in about a year, and while I thought it was a good beer, it was a far cry from best in RVA.

I missed out on Battle Creek but was really impressed with Ascension a couple of weeks ago. I think I'd still give the Veil the edge but Triple Crossing is closing the gap.

I'm not sure if they stepped up their game dramatically or their beers have always been good and I just failed to recognize that. Before they started canning and opened the new location I had only been there a couple times over the past year. Once I was able to snag a few of their cans (Battle Creek, Nectar & Knife, Falcon Smash, Ascension) and then taste them next to Veil and The Answer then it became clear they are up there with those guys.

Battle Creek was excellent. Right up there with Veil and Answer DIPAs.

I agree that Battle Creek was really fantastic. I liked it just as much as what I've had from the Veil and Answer. I'll need to get some more of the Lockout Series.

Another Battle Creek fan here. Had Clever Girl on draft last week and it was tasty. Picked up cans of falcon smash and double falcon and like both.

I think their ipas have a nice balance. Some haze and juice but not super yeasty. Some of the juice bombs I get a bite from the yeast that I don't like.

I thought about starting a Triple Crossing thread the day of the Ascension release. Mostly because with a line for Ascension and it selling out in a couple hours, it felt like a Veil release.

I agree with most folks here. Battle Creek was fantastic. I liked Ascension fine, but liked Nectar and Knife better. I did a blind side by side of Ascension and Casual Drinks (same hops except Ascension had Simcoe too). Veil did win but they're both great beers. I'd love to do a blind side by side of Battle Creek with another Mosaic DIPA (Hard In the Paint, Step Dad Chaperone...)

One thing that might be helpful here on this thread

I like that on the right weeks I can grab Triple Crossing cans after Veil releases, for now anyway.

Concur with aforementioned comments. Thanks @oldn00b for adding that link. I will say that I was impressed by the overall qualities of Double Falcon Smash.

TPC has been knocking it out of the park lately with IPAs but I'm curious to see how their new Imperial Stout comes out. Releasing on Saturday at their Downtown - Foushee (original tap room). Crowler fills only until the beer is all gone. I didn't have it in the Fall but know they did a Night Lands RIS variant with cacao, cinnamon & vanilla as well so interested to hear how it compares.

Haven't been too impressed with any of the stouts I've had in their taproom so far, but I missed the one you mentioned so who knows.

One thing I've been curious about, on their FB page they say:

"Our tiny brewhouse features a yeast laboratory, elaborate filtering system and jacketed brite tanks. Our beer is served directly out of these brite tanks, so that you are always enjoying the freshest beer we can possibly provide you."

I'm curious about this system - does that mean if they're brewing 7 barrel batches that they have a 7 barrel brite tank for each brew on tap, then the taps are hooked up directly to each? If they're brewing 20 barrels in Fulton, how are they making that work? I can imagine some benefits to this but would there not be some disadvantages too? My guess is maybe this is dated to pre-expansion and now they're kegging but I have no clue. I'm sure other brewers do this, I'm just not familiar with the process so was hoping someone smarter than me could provide a little insight.

Looks like Dolphin Day is this Friday at Fulton, with cans of Black Dolphin RIS and Clever Girl IPA available.

Does anyone know if these cans will also be available downtown on Friday?

I can't say for certain but I think what they have done in the past for can releases is make them available at the new location one day (Friday) and then Foushee the following day. Again, not sure if that's the case this time but it would make sense. The new spot is only 3 miles away from Foushee but it's really deep in RVA so they likely are still trying to draw people down there as opposed to the original tap room. That being said, I have been to Fulton once (for the Ascension / Nectar & Knife Release) and the place was packed on a Friday so they are not having a problem getting people down there that's for sure.

Made my first visit to Fulton today and arrived right at opening. Pleasantly surprised to see "Scituate Josh" (formerly of The Answer) working the bar. Tried both single and double Falcon Smash and had a full pour of Alternating Current w/ El Dorado. These are some seriously good IPAs and what a space! I personally preferred single FS to the double and walked out with a half case (plus a 4-pack of the double). Definitely a brewery to watch and well worth the drive from Chapel Hill.

Sounds like Fulton only based on their Facebook event page.

    Today's release:

Green Dreams DIPA and Waxing Poetic Mango Passionfruit Berliner. These will be available in cans at noon tomorrow!

Green Dreams - $16 per 4 pack + tax (roughly 90 cases) The debut of Green Dreams DIPA in 16 oz cans happens tomorrow at noon in Fulton. We took it back to an old school hop combo favorite of ours, Citra and Columbus. Big notes of orange zest and grapefruit will be very apparent with a soft mouth feel. $16 + tax 4 pack and we are shooting for 90 cases.

Waxing Poetic Berliner - $16.50 per 4 pack + tax (roughly 140 cases) Friday at noon in Fulton. Waxing Poetic Berliner with Passion Fruit and Mango will be available in 4 pack 16 oz cans. This beer clocks in at 4% and is a tart wheat berliner weisse. It was fermented and conditioned over hundreds of pounds of mango and passion fruit puree. Tart, tropical and fruit forward all bundled into a can. This is our way of bringing summer to your home in the cold winter months.

Stopped by the Fulton location today, never had their beer before.

Clever Girl is like ddh pseudosue with some mosaic thrown in. Am I crazy or is this beer really good?

Green Dreams was great on tap, can't wait to crack a can.

This place seems to fly under the radar, fine with me if I can roll up and grab cans if I'm in rva.
