sooo..... just wanted to post about a brewery that gets little to no publicity in MN. FWIW, yeah this is my local brewery, but also FWIW i was a huge critic of these guys for a long time. Absolutely would not drink it at first. But that changed

These guys have an IPA called Mad Butcher that I personally believe is on or with any IPA in the state and absolutely never gets mentioned. Constantly I am sending this out as extras in trades and have had big surprises. Recently they put on a DIPA verision of this (tap only unfortunately) that is on par with sosus I believe. Not to mention they have a very solid porter, imperial stout, and multiple lagers that are well above average.

This comes off as a fan boy post but these guys are criminally underrated in Minnesota. Never talked about. Am I wrong?

I bought a six pack of Mad Butcher last weekend. Very good stuff.

Their Kato Lager (Helles-style) is really good. Anyone who likes lagers/German styles should check it out.

I think Mad Butcher is better than FL Sue. One of the best packaged Citra IPAs in the upper Midwest if you ask me. Wish we got it here!

Not a biggest fan of the style, but the Kato is so delicious. I am also a fan of their Mint Stout. Good beers, and a solid brewery.

I should check them out again. I picked up a pack of their Organ Grinder a few years ago, and I wasn't impressed. I haven't tried anything else from them.

I've only had it once and thought it was terrific. I'm scared to buy any however because I don't see bottle dates on it.

Dammit. Just when I get all excited for another local IPA to work into the rotation they go and do this. If this is true, I'm extremely disappointed. It's only a rare occasion that I'll buy an IPA that I don't know how old it is....

I've looked on the bottles and the six pack holder and couldn't find it. Hoping I'm wrong, but I couldn't spot any dates.

Agreed. There's a lot more beers i'd be willing to take a chance on, if I knew I was trying a fresh product. Same goes for a lot of Bank Brewing's stuff.

I've seen best by drink dates on the bottles, I've seen the dates being quite a few months ahead of time so I've felt that, while isn't ideal, is enough of an indicator that it is at least not old

Are they on the labels or the bottles themselves?

Labels, lower right hand corner if I recall correctly.

I've noticed they have a hard time keeping it supplied sometimes. Seems lately it's been a bit more limited.

I came up empty tonight too. I was told they were hoping to have it back in stock on Friday. At least this improves the odds of it being fresh!

I don't want to break up the love fest, but I was down in Mankato for work this fall & jazzed to have a taproom near where I was staying. Went once & didn't bother to return. Two beers seriously flawed (including Mad Butcher) & two slightly above mediocre.

But based on the raves I'll pick up a single of fresh Mad Butcher next time I come across one.
