What is your biggest turn off/complaint about tap rooms? Staff, decor, flow, tap lists, guest taps, etc.

My biggest turn off is smelling cleaner/sanitizer on the glassware. Yuck!:slight_frown:

    Non-cheers to that!

    Kids and dogs.

I keed, I keed. Probably overall comfort. Seems most (that I've been to) do it on the economical, which I totally understand, but metal chairs, stools or chairs with no backs, communal tables...that type of stuff.

I second the complaint noisy ambience. A brewery is, in reality, a manufactuing plant. Most American taprooms have been carved out of the manufacturing space, or in some cases, built as taprooms but keep the same look and feel. Hard surfaces, high ceilings, drafty. Some German taprooms are beerhalls, which is another experience.

Now, the very opposite applies in tasting rooms for wineries. A few are down in the barrels and tanks, but most are quiet, a liitle more personable.

Live bands. Especially overly loud live bands.

Usually has to do with the staff or the design of the place.

Lack of smaller pour options or having strict flight restrictions (i.e. it has to be 6 pours of these 6 specific beers).

I understand the point of the place is to turn beer into profit but if I can get tastier food from a drive through and find better company at home then, well . . .

Expensive stickers. Some places give them away (How many do ya want?).

Several places I have been to are getting 3 bucks for them. The beer better be something I really really like.

Yes, I am addicted to stickers.

I don't like excessive noise and tap rooms need a good tap list or why bother going. Other than that it's just the obvious, dirty taplines and glasses that aren't beer clean.

You must live next to Lagunitas.

My biggest turn off is how busy places get. I want a table I didn't wait an hour for, space between the nearest neighbor, and not have to annoy 10 people just to walk to the pisser.

I've experienced the college party/drunk bar scene and have no desire for it again. Yet these places just pack em in, because at the end of the day it isn't about your experience, its about how much beer they sold. I guess in a capitalist world, I shouldn't blame them.
