Well this is unfortunate... Hoping my bottles coming aren't infected.... https://www.facebook.com/weldwerksbrewing/posts/967151183417868:0
Had one last night and it was fantastic! Zero signs of infection. Hopefully your bottles are good, there's hope.
I had my first one a couple weeks back and it was delicious, which made me jump on board getting more. Hoping I just didn't shoot myself in the foot and that it is a small number infected, but this also leads back to an issue I have though in general with breweries that dont do batch #s on their beers. It would be so much easier to track these issues.
There is only 1 batch of BAMA, released at two separate times. There is no way to distinguish infected beers from good beers. That being said, had one last Friday and it was tasting a-may-zing. I have 2 bottles left.
I think it had to have been a very tiny % or people would be going bonkers. I know people tend to give WW a pass, but this is one of those things that usually triggers an angry mob of midwesterners. Not saying there isn't an issue, but I'm thinking it's like a 1 in 20 kind of thing.
Angry Midwesterner here. All mine have been fine thus far. Last one sitting in the fridge. If it's not perfect, I will burn down all of Colorado alongside my mob.
@Domingo is right. Our tests at the brewery have resulted in less than 1 in 50 beers affected so far. That was certainly enough to warrant bringing it to the public's attention and be transparent about the situation, but I think at this point the vast majority of bottles still in the wild are likely still good. It's definitely an unfortunate situation but one that has forced us to improve our QA/QC protocols specific for barrel-aged beers. We don't have the lab equipment in-house to run every analysis we would like before packaging a beer like BAMA, so we have made arrangements with other local labs to do more extensive testing for us in the future.
Cracked one open tonight. My experience was the polar opposite: way better than the first bottle I had the weekend after the release. Got one more to go, but at this point, I'm so thrilled with this bottle that I don't much care how the next one turns out. Or maybe that's the BAMA talking... :-)
Anyone wanting out of their bottles i'll offer fifty cents on the dollar, just like I did with infected ba yeti.
It was harder to get since it was trading pretty high but might be easier now. Coming down to Denver soon? I have some bottles left and would share. All I've opened have been fantastic.
