I was at Sacramento yesterday (1/27). They didnt have any special releases. Got some Petit Verdot gose which was nice but didn't have the wine character I was hoping for. Having Textbook saison now and it's pretty standard fare. They had Night Moves on nitro and it was just awesome.

25 minute drive? That's it? Sounds like a close local place in California traffic......

My commute to work is longer then that each way every day.

What is cool about Fieldwork is the TOGO option if you are just stopping by. They have CROWLER options to grab several TOGO beers for later in the week. Also the special can releases have lasted for several days lately. Even for the higher demand NE IPAs.

Hopefully they just blindside everyone again and drop the cans on Thursday. Surprise releases are my favorite.

Fieldwork must have upped production or something? Is this an every week thing now?

Another can release. King Citra on February 10th.

Kind of surprised as King Citra was just in cans a few weeks ago. Was hoping for another run of Galaxy Juice or Pulp.

Yeah, I'm surprised with all of their new taprooms and now these can releases that they are able to produce enough beer to keep up with the demand. Do they only brew out of the Berkeley taproom? That space doesn't seem all that big for how much beer they crank out.

I wonder how long it will be before they invest in their own canning line?

Sacramento and Napa Tap Rooms are both very small with no brewing area.

AFAIK, they only brew in Berkeley.

Hopefully they get a canning line of their own. That would be great for all the locals. Not sure it is a priority with them though as they are more focused on expanding with 2 more taprooms in 2017. They are going to need to up production somehow with 2 more tap rooms, they got to be close to max right now???? Wonder if there is room in Berkeley for expansion?

So, I went to Fieldwork this morning to pick up some Hazy Train, and noticed they still had maybe 30 cans of Bad Conduct left over. I got a couple, tried one, and noticed the maple was far less prominent (more so in the aroma than taste) and the mouthfeel was a little less creamy. At first I thought this was the age on it but then I noticed the first Bad Conduct I had was 12/750 and this recent one was 370/750. I also remember reading on a thread about Mornin' Delight that the latter bottles had less maple than the earlier ones. What are the chances that the change in flavor has more to do with the canning number than the age?

Got to try Fieldwork Amnesia Haze IPA. Juicy, but you could still get that dankness for sure.

OTP in Roseville always has several Fieldwork beers on tap.

Went to fieldwork sac after moonraker Saturday and had amnesia haze followed by a can of hazy train. I liked hazy train better but both are great.

Hey everyone, im new to the bay and am just trying to get a feel for Fieldworks releases.

Everyone in this thread seems to agree it is never really that many people for cans, but does anyone have a clue what the two cans being released on Friday will probably yield?

Should i show up early or just meander over when they open?

Im from LA so im used to insane 200 person lines materializing within half an hour of release info poping up on IG, so im hoping for a more relaxed vibe.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

Tough to say, the release lines have been all over the map - though I think it's safe to say that a BA can is going to have low yield and low limits and would assume KC yield/limits will be similar to Hazy Train. Layering on the beer week element, I think it's fair to assume there will be a decent line at opening. That's just my two cents.

Side note, I feel like Hazy Train is a different beer from the first brew. Initially I liked it but didn't find a distinguishable aspect. After opening a can of this batch, it's bright - juicy but aggressive hops and a solid weight on the tongue - to me, a much more "put together" beer. The can says mosaic and amarillo but when I look at the specs card on the website they show mosaic, Columbus and dank blend.

Anyone else have thoughts on batch over batch comparison?

There was a line of maybe 15-20 people around five minutes prior to when Fieldwork opened for the Hazy Train release. Though the line did start developing around 15 minutes before opening. The limits on this can were very high (12/person) which probably reduced the line.

I can't comment on the line for Bad Conduct, there was none when I arrived about an hour-and-a-half or so after it's announcement, but around 400-450 cans had sold by then (2/person).

I'll probably show up 15 or 20 minutes early for their releases since like you I'm new to the bay. I also have schoolwork and research forcing my hand on where I can be and when. It probably wouldn't be much worse arriving at opening but I can only speculate.

Super easy release. Went to the Sacramento Tap Room at 10:30am. No line, plenty of cans of both beers(King Citra & Viking's Lmt). In and out.

Now the hard part, waiting till after work to get home to open.....

I didn't have high hopes for BA Eliza based on its barrel treatment but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it more than Viking's Lament to be honest.
