I have frequented more tap room and most of what is being echoed here is how I feel. Something I prefer anot ideal tap room for me is a a good hum of happy customer, not drunk or beligerent idiots. A wifii, to access information, some information about the brewery, a glass of fresh water and couple extra glasses.

My biggest turn off of taprooms that hold all their good stock for one random Wednesday night tapping of epic proportions. Never quite understood this

    Hallelujah and Amen!!!

We've got one of the "pedal party" ones in my town, and I get my tab as soon as I see 'em pull up. On my way out, I ask the driver where they're going next, and I head the opposite direction.

I personally like this. It keeps it fun, keeps people guessing, and rewards the people with nothing better to do than go to a bar on Wednesday.

I appreciate the surprise factor of it. If I miss it, I miss it. If I hit it big, then it just adds to the experience.

Slow service. I want to be greeted shortly after I sit down. Uncomfortable seating (The hipster scene). A chair needs a back and should not be made from expanded metal. Excessive noise, just not into the sports bar thing. Unsupervised kids. I love kids but a bar is not romper room. I'm not hard to please but I usually drink 3 beers when I visit. For the cost of 3 beers, the tip, and maybe food, I don't want to be uncomfortable the whole time that I'm there.

Totally with you on this and especially when a restaurant, pub or bar is using bleach or has a big old tub of it sitting out. Gag.

When there's 100 taps and every one of them is an IPA,Stout,Porter or some weird Hot Pepper/Birthday Cake concoction except for that one Generic Blond Ale or local adjunct.

    1. Having the bartender/server hanging out with the regulars and mostly ignoring the poor bastard who is traveling and went to the trouble to find the tap room in the first place.
    2. Having the beer list written in pastel chalks on a small board hung above the lights - it's unreadable!
    3. Not posting serving size/beer style on the invisible beer list. It really pisses me off when I'm expecting a pint pour and get a 8 oz snifter instead. "We serve all our beers over (random)% in smaller glasses." Fine, then post it. And do it! Don't serve that regular down the bar a pint of your 12% stout because you know him and only give me an 8 oz pour.
    4. I don't mind dogs on patios but please keep them in well lighted areas, not in darkened areas where they can trip me or I can step on them.
    5. Pretty much what ever most other people have said.

Yep. I drink alone, mostly at home.

I was once a publican when young. We had good beer for the time, a great juke box, a mix of the university crowd, local rowdies.........These days I go to a few places, have a beer or two, chat, and move along home happy. I can't remember the last time I bitched about a place I went, or about not getting what I expected when there. I guess I'm easy to please.

Basically, any place with a stuck up feel to it. I've been to some bigger breweries where the servers seemed to think they were doing us all a favor by gracing us with their beer, just generally arrogant.

Taprooms to me always seem like an afterthought. I've never found them to be particularly inviting or comfortable.

A turn off for me is when their attitude suggests that they are doing me a favor.
