Oskar Blues is re-releasing Deviant Dale's as a 3 month seasonal, Jan to Mar, because new hops and freshness. Keep an eye peeled! I love that stuff, myself.

This was always my "go-to" DIPA when I needed a heavy hitter and couldn't seem to settle on something new. Always loved this beer. Too bad it has to share valuable drinking time and beer money allocation with Nugget Nectar and Hopslam.

I'm a big fan. Thanks for the heads-up.

I have always wanted to try this, but never have because I don't think I've seen cans around here <6mos old. Hopefully this will change now!

Exactly. One of my good friends grabbed a case of the 16oz cans last summer. I'm fairly sure they were nearly 8 months old, and stored in a warm distributor during that time.

The 3 month window, coupled with some new hops, has me optimistic for the new batch.

new hops as in different varietals, or as in fresh? If different, any idea which ones, and what ones were previously used?

Fresh as in newest hops of the harvest. Still Centennial and Columbus. I'll post the link later if I can.

I was looking to try something different and saw a fresh 6 pack (only a few weeks old) so I scooped it up, really glad that I did and great beer!

I used to love this beer, major let down this time around. The nose is almost nonexistent and I'm not getting the taste I remember from a couple years back (possibly due to my palate changing). At $14/sixer, never again. Canned 1/11/17, fwiw.

I picked up a sixer myself and am enjoying it. I'd hesitate to call it an IIPA, though- it drinks more like an Imperial Red Ale. It's still got the dark evergreen dankness, though not as much as I remembered, plus lots of candied orange peel. Tasty, and I think anyone who likes reds and ambers will love it.

Ah yeah in my area it was about the norm for a beer like this ($12.99) so same ballpark.

I agree and it reminds me of a bigger Hop Devil in some ways or a slightly smoother Nugget Nectar.

I could see that, though I get a Pataskala Red vibe myself.

I haven't had that beer yet but am curious and when I see it again I will have to give it a shot.

Finishing my sixer, this beer sucks for a DIPA. Tastes more like a hoppy barely wine (like fresh Big Foot). If you like malt bombs, this is your beer.

I really enjoy it but I would agree that it may be incorrectly categorized.
