Of course I'd set up a few ip trades ahead of time as I always do. WW is expanding distro, I'd assume they'd be in Philly and NY already, that I assume is a goal.

I waited in line at Trillium for 20 minutes once. They played Helmet, we totally rocked out. It was fun.

    He tried:

    http://zebulonbrewing.com/blog/unca...t-india-pale-ale-circa-1840-for-krishnamurti/

And, if there are still any bottles around, they're almost a year old, so even closer to what they probably tasted like back then

Then will you please exercise that self restraint and not write judgemental posts about it?

I went to the beer store on black Friday for get the Budweiser Bourbon County Stout. About 20 people were in line. Sign said "limit two per person", got in my car and drove away.
I returned late that afternoon it was all gone. A couple of weeks later I went there and and they had it again. I was told it was a second drop, still a two bottle limit for each. I just kept going in and out till I had a case.

I think most people have waited at a restaurant for a table for anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour and not think twice about it. Why is it any different to wait in line to buy beer? You wait because you want to experience something. This doesn't mean that you think the beer you are buying is the best beer in the world but it does mean you are interested in experiencing something new or something you know you like.

Its also not necessarily about freshness but about getting it while its available. I have to do a long drive tomorrow that happens to drive in the vicinity of Tree House and New England Brewing Company. I'm planning on stopping at both. I'm not going there specifically for the freshness, I'm going there because that's the only way I can buy that beer. How long of a line I'm willing to stay in will be proportional to what is available to buy. Currently I know Tree House has Julius in can and I'm not sure what the second offer will be yet. I've had Julius before so I'd probably wait in maybe a 10-20 minute line for it but I wouldn't wait an hour for it (I've been there before and will be there again so not worth a lot of time especially when I've got someplace I need to be). The second offer will determine how long I wait. NEBC on the other hand I've never had and is closer to my destination so I may wait longer for that if I have to. I also have dinner plans so that will play a role in determining how long I wait. Anyhow to each their own.

You guys have the IPA history ALL wrong. IPA actually originally stood for India Porter Ale. And at the time it was actually an Imperial Stout that was being brewed to survive the trip to India. The name porter and stout were interchangeable. This is also how imperial beers were invented and the main reason they're so popular today.

Me neither. For the same reason I don't buy expensive beer. Too many good beers out there to stand in line or pay big bucks.

However comma to each their own.

The IPAs of the past aren't anything like current, modern IPAs. Heck, even a "traditional" Cask IPA or Belgian Hoppy beer are not really like modern IPAs.

I never understood this argument. That was like 200 years ago. As has been pointed out, it's really not the same beer anymore. And the Brits had basically two objectives - to avoid spoilage, and to get drunk.

Although I've yet to see any people wait in line for a restaurant table and once sat down with their food in front of them, either a) get up with their meal, package and ship it across the country or b) get up with their meal and resell it at a higher price. Not to mention bring 2-3 other people so they can do a) and/or b) with their meals as well.

If the opportunity arose I would wait in line for beer (not for anything local to me, however)...it sounds like a party, and I'll bet some good people watching. I used to camp out for concert tickets every once in a while in the late 70s...lots of fun

Of course, nice weather is a must

Well, I have some alternative facts on the history of IPA. These were the strong ales hauled out west in wooden barrels by the US Army in the quest for manifest destiny. They became known as Indian Pale Ales.
