I don't know of any beer I've had locally that had that sticky sweetness up front and pounding bitter grapefruity finish. It isn't for everyone, and it's definitely not where most IPAs are headed, but I'm a fan.

Hopslam is pretty awesome, from what I remember drinking it years ago.

    Cheers!

Hops and Pie taps Hopslam tomorrow at 11:30 am.

And Pliny if you want to do a side by side.

Hopslam has hit shelves in Denver along with 2 Hearted and Expedition Stout. The Slam is going for 16.99 at Mr. B's with a 1-6pack limit/person.

Anyone know if this is a permanent distro thing or just an occasional drip? I'm still not sure anything that isn't special will move on a regular basis, but I kinda dig seeing their stuff here and there. It's just enough to actually make me bother buying it.

Also, Argonaut is selling at 2pm today with a 1-6pack/person limit. Not sure on price but it'll be about the same as Mr. B's.

I think Bell's strategy here (all beers, not just Hopslam) is genius. The quarterly drops keeps demand high enough that I will always grab something when I see it. Outside of Best Brown, which I occasionally still see around town, nothing lasts more than a week.

Compare that to the myriad of other out of state distros that just seem to sit and sit. I'd honestly prefer to see seasonal/quarterly drops from the out of state players.

Looking forward to hopefully scoring some Hopslam. I've never had it.

Agreed 100%. Not clue if it's cost effective, but it keeps their beers from sitting around. They're just unusual enough where I always perk up and buy them. Haven't had one that wasn't fresh yet either. Hell, I love Best Brown and am all over those tall cans when I see them. If Bells is making money like this, I'd love to see others follow this approach. Founders appears to (really) be on the way this year and could probably succeed in the same ways. I don't think All Day, Porter, or Centennial will move our needle one bit...but if we only got a small super-fresh shipment every 6 months? That's enough to feed the need from the fans and keep the shelves from stagnating.
That's when we find out that Bells is hemorrhaging money trying this and CSA can't do it again :stuck_out_tongue:

FIS might possibly be my favorite beer ever. That would move the needle straight up to the red for me:sunglasses:

The remainder of their offerings- agreed- no movement. Not with what's already available here right now.

Just saw where Mile High has/had it for $16.99 a sixer. That's less than what I paid in Kalamazoo.

Is FIS year-round now? I was thinking it was just a seasonal. Of their normal lineup, I love Dirty Bastard. Rubaeus has its place (kinda like Lindemans Fromboise) as an occasional buy, too. The others don't really do anything for me or I can buy something better that's already on the shelf. I'm all over some of the limited/seasonal items, though. Normal 'ol FBS is still killer to me.
