New to Ohio (2017)

I'll take jungle juiced head hunter over super juicy juju by a hair. Either way, two of my top 5 beers no doubt.

 

I don't get the 5 pm release this year of juju. That is annoying as hell I like to just show up to the brewery get my bottles and leave before everyone is off work.

And i. Love the super juicy Jungle head hunter I get mixed feelings about sometimes it taste good to me sometimes it kind of has a nail polish remover taste to it for me

 

They do this every time they release a big beer on draft, and do it every year with Hop Stalker bottles/ cans. Was going o say they did it with bottles of Juju but seem to remember two years ago buying a case at ~ 330. I find it nonsensical, too, and have told them as much many times.

 

I feel like the 5pm release would be a bigger deal if Fat Heads bottles didn't get such massive distro in the area.

 

Supposedly the reason for the 5pm release is to prevent a lot of people showing up before the people at the businesses next to Fat Head's have time to leave the parking lot and whatnot before it's full of Fat Head's customers.

 

ummm.....no.

 

That kind of makes sense, but that reason was never given to me. Besides, the place is pretty well packed at 4 anyway for a big release, bottle or draft.

 

Juju will be around for awhile, just need to go to an odd ball grocery store if looking late. I remember last year it sat at the chesterland giant eagle for a month, but your normal bottle shop might sell out. Fat heads also made a ton last year after winning the medal. Should be plenty for everyone.

I don't think you need to worry about juju expiring, it stood up over time for me last year, so if you see it sitting at a store and it's cold, then I wouldn't worry about it being "old".

 

True, but I guess it must help a little bit... At least for the 5pm releases I have gone to, I get there by like 4:30ish and just wait around until 5pm and it gets significantly more crowded by 5-5:30... But that is also likely due to people getting off work and stopping in afterward.

@tepie , JuJu does hold up very well... Even my last bottle at 4 months old or so was tasting great last year. As long as you keep it cold, it will do just fine. I expect even better this year, assuming the new bottling line is lower O2 and all that jazz. Holds up really good for being such a big DIPA compared to most.

 

Bad assumption on my part then. I figured this was a legally agreed on compromise that left both sides feeling a little better and the lawyers a lot richer.

 

The only true part to that is the lawyers getting richer!

 

Man, Columbus is really getting more and more impressive with the selection being bottled (and the quality inside those bottles). Can they open a damn taproom already?!

 

Life in Ohio is so good.

 

Anyone try that winking lizard Jackie o beer I am reading good things about it.

 

It was awesome as usual. If you like Spirit Beast then you will like this. It's a blend various other BA beers - Quad, Barleywines and Stout. If I had to guess I'd say Skipping Stone, Brick Kiln, Lanthrone & Dark App. So well blended, you can really pick out the layers of each. And the JO's signature, perfectly integrated barrel notes.

 

Yep, it's awesome. No mistaking that it's a well crafted JO's beer. I'm anxious to try the one that the Winking Lizards will be getting next week.

 

I've got a P1 en route back from Athens. Pretty excited for that one.

 

Anyone heard about the Fat Head's/Three Floyds collab Confidentiality and Disclosure hitting Ohio, or is it just Indiana?

 

I just can't justify a 3 hour drive for 2 bottles.. but man I really really want to try a P1
