Any recommendations for good beer spots on the North Oregon coast? Never been there, but planning to visit in the spring.

I searched and found an oldish closed thread - wondering about updates. Thanks, everyone.

Pelican in Pacific City, De Garde in Tillamook and Fort George in Astoria are all highly recommended.

Check out Twist Wine in Pacific City too. And if you go to Fort George, be sure and check out the separate brewery taproom for some awesome one off beers.

Screw and Brew in Cannon Beach is a pretty funny place to have a beer if you happen to be walking around town. Hardware store meets beer/cafe.

If, IF, you're going through Newport, and, IF, you happen to go to the aquarium there, well, Rogue is right there. The employees are likely to be dicks, and the beer is Rogue, but it is kind of a neat stop. You have to randomly find your way through the brewery to get to the taproom. I liked the BlueBalls when I was there, beef and blue cheese meatballs.

At least that's a better idea than the chopsticks with the Cheeseburger...

I go there all the time and never once have the employees been rude or bad in any way. But if you want to go the Aquarium BM me

I'd third Pacific city. Pelican has got to be the most picturesque brewery in the country.

My check must be lost in the mail.

Depending on where in Skagit Valley Garden Path opens, they could have a decent view of Mt. Baker. There are some great views of Baker from Northern Whatcom County too, if somebody ever stuck a brewery out there. You can see the peak of Baker from Wander, but one thing our breweries, being "urban", lack is decent visuals. Gruff has an OK view of the bay, and sometimes the view of the climbing gym across the street from Structures isn't terrible either.

When San Juan Brewing was open in Friday Harbor, I always enjoyed their view of the harbor and islands.

If you're looking directly at Mt. Hood the view is hard to beat. Glance a little too far to your right or left and the view gets decidedly less amazing. Pelican is probably more pictureque as a whole.

This time of year is probably the best for Solera. When I was there in august the back area had the ambience of a neglected dog park (field of dirt / dried grass / dog feces) and aside from the mountain it could not be compared to Pelican.

Nor have I, though sometimes service can be a tad slow, and I start to get that "I'm invisible" feeling (not as bad as Monk's in Philly of course, but enough to start feeling a bit annoyed). That being said, I would agree with Terry otherwise. If I happen to be in Newport, then I pretty much always stop in and get a sampler tray. Shrug. I've always had a pretty good time the times I dropped by.

Ya, It always gets me when I see that, It might be a spillover from the Portland site, don't know. But the Newport pub is pretty darn good (both of them) It can get packed in the Summer, this is a resort area so the crowds can be a challenge, my recommendation is in the tourist season seek out the little guys off the edge like Bier One, Yachatts Brewing and Twisted snout in Toledo.

McMenamin's Sand Trap in Gearhart is a good place to go on the way from Seaside to Astoria. You can stay in the hotel there or play golf, too.
