This is my first time having this beer... and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed! I really do enjoy the scotch ale style - and beers like Dirty Bastard, Backwoods Bastard, & Wulver have always been my "top of the list" choices. This is right up there with each of those....possibly better!?!?

Good morning BAs! Still using Mrs. Lizard's computer so no photos this morning - maybe later today if I get my computer back. Today's New Breakfast Beer is Alltech's Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout. According to Marty, my distributor, this is a popular stout. Lessee - at $ 15/four pack that's $ 90/case - Founder's Breakfast Stout is only $ 67/case, Great Lakes Blackout Stout is $ 59/case, and Narwhal is $ 60/case - all of which taste much better to me than Alltech's offering. "Popular" around here is synonymous with "cheap" so I think some of Marty's customers need to do the math. But the, a rose by any other name ...

    Hey Friday BA's

Found this old "Chocolate Dopplebock" from SBC in my cellar - probably 2-3 years old....still tasting pretty nice!

Good morning and Happy Friday BA's! First I'd like to say thanks to our host @cjgiant for another great Throwback Thursday. I was very happy to revisit my oldies, and may see them back into rotation from time to time. And to answer your question, yes and no: I believe Bruce has become our unofficial beloved groundhog day (well...night) musician, specifically for LNBA's mostly thanks to one of our faithful. Alright, it's time for the Glass of the Day Awards!

    GotD:
In the spirit of throwbacks, let's go vintage for today's GotD. Cheers and congrats to @RonaldTheriot for this Schmidt Bowtie glass, and this very fine post. The napkin really sets the tone :grinning:.
2nd: BA's, you all know by now the Staff is unbiased . We've seen and awarded every style of glass, vase, cup, mug, stein, water bottle, hotel paper and plastic necessities, hell even a blender! Here is our first stainless steel new school lager style vessel courtesy of @Uniobrew31 .
3rd: I can't let this go without its due appreciation. A rare @SABERG sighting, and a fine one at that! Very nice gold rimmed pokal my friend.

Honorable mentions go out to @LeperJim for an awesome TbT post with an image from 8 years ago (had to HM you, so people would get the whole picture ), and to @BeerVikingSailor for just having one :grinning:.
Cheers everyone, and I will see you all soon!

    GotD.

Happy Friday everyone! This is Jack's Abby Saxony Vienna Lager. I can almost hear the brewer now - " I don't even taste one hop in there." Neither do I. Cheers!

Here is my home made flatbread pizza . That's right I made the bread and the sawse!

Bought flowers for the Mrs. today, and now I realize that if I drank a beer out of the vase before I put them in, I might win the GOTD.

    Just kidding, punk boy. Cheers!

Lunch came 'round and so did this . . .

    Score 3.64
    look: 3.25 | aroma: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Color is light yellow with frothy white cap which retains good lacing.

Aroma is bready malt and rich, spicy hops with a lingering floral citrus scent.

Taste is hop forward with malt standing in the background but not out of sight. I get grapefruit and bitter lemon as the citrus influence which sing a little louder in the finish/aftertaste.

    Medium texture.

Overall it's a good effort. If they were shooting for a noticeable but lighter hop presence they hit the mark. Hops are undoubtedly the star of the show but malt plays a strong supporting role. Brewer says five varieties of hops are used so there's something for everybody but my palate is not attuned enough to separate them out. There are enough of them alright, all the way to the aftertaste which is mildly and pleasantly bitter.
