Well somebody just texted me pictures of Break Thru Beverage annoucing they have aquired distribution rights to Dog Fish Head. This will be Dog Fish Head's third distributor in this state and first one since they left 10 plus years ago. I look forward to hearing the hype of this brewery for the next 90 to 120 days! I don't know when we will see the beers but I am guessing within a month.

Heritage says it will show up in late March or early April.

Hopefully this means fresh 90 minute. Whenever I go back to Wisconsin, my local store has only old, warm bottles.

*yawn* seriously? Who cares? Name 3 of their beers that won't be shelf turds ... then one year from now please revisit my post and apologize for being wrong. You're looking at 9 month old 60 minute, 8 month old 90 minute, over priced 120 minute and WWS and 750s of all their weird crazy shit that is expensive and out there and no one buys or likes (I just moved from CO and it just sat on the shelves looking sadly at me, begging me to buy "My Antonia!!!!" :-)) #pass #rantover

Me. I'll happily buy 60 Minute & 90 Minute, which are better than 90% of the IPAs on shelves around here. And neither 120 Minute nor WWS will sit for every long. Neckbeards will snap them up, even at the prices they command.

The chai-tea infused saisons aged in nonsense, on the other hand, will probably gather enough dust to qualify as a second Sahara.

I can't name 3, but thankfully Palo Santo Marron exists. It is the only DFH beer that matters, as far as I'm concerned (although Pennsylvania Tuxedo is pretty great too).

I'd probably buy some India Brown and Festina Peche now and then.

I did not even realize that Dogfish Head started canning certain beers.

Actually I think this rant has some merit. Nationwide, craft beer sales are slowing down. This is why someone started a fresh beer thread. The reality is that as selection increases the probability of freshness decreases.
Craft beer is maturing. Breweries and distributors are basically using the spitball approach. Chuck it at the wall and hope it sticks.

Palo Santo Marron, 90 minute and their Indian Brown ale are classics for the styles.
Dont even get me started on how great Burton Baton and Immort Ale are.
I'm glad they'll be back in the state!

Um, yeah, was the negativity of my post lost? I don't like their beer and think they're shelf turds. And mark my words there will be 9 month old 90 Minute sitting on shelves 7 months after they launch here (hi realities of supply chains to account for the 2 month lag). I lived it in CO - they launched and nobody gave 1/1,000,00 millionth of a damn. Maybe folks are desperate for more IPAs here than CO, but their IPAs are malty garbage. Just not for me. #watch

Unfortunately thats true for most "national" craft breweries these days. Ans you're right its totally a logstics/supply chain issue. For example I saw 8 month old Founder's centennial IPA in the discount cart at Zipps today for 99cents a can.

I think what these breweries need to do is instead of saturating every market place they're in, undersell for a while and gauge the actual demand. But then again, if the distributors are buying these crazy large amounts from the breweries, then why not just keep pumping out these huge quantities?

I agree. It's unfortunate but I love in a smaller community on the Mississippi in southeast MN and run into problems all the time. I am by no means a fresh beer snob, as in if the beer wasn't bottle within the last 2 weeks I won't buy. But I am constantly having to check canned on/bottled on dates because there is a ton of good beer that sits forever because there are so many options and I live in a small market. I've been craving Psuedosue, for example and I've literally picked up and checked the same 4 pack for probably the last month in a half at an MGM in my hometown. Canned on Oct 10, thanks but no thanks. It's definitely frustrating. Like OP, I see old Founder's all the time. A lot of time I leave the store without the beer I want because I refuse to buy something so old. The good thing is I drink a lot of Porters and Stouts in the colder months, so I can live with it being older. Now that spring is around the corner and I'm looking back towards hoppier selections, I will not buy them 2 months +++

Accurate much, the beer will collect dust on warm shelves and go OOC. They have 3 good beers at most, imho

I for one was excited when I heard Dogfish Head is coming to Minnesota. Won't have to drive to Wisconsin to pick some up. Love Olde School Barleywine and Raison D Extra. Will wait to see if the "Minute" beers become shelf turds. Hoping not.

I'd kick Harpoon out to make shelf space for DFH if it came to that!
I can think of a few others as well

I'm confused - you're questioning my calling an IPA "malty" or there's some nerdy 'gotcha' homebrewer nuance you're trying to get me on? I have always loved drinking with you when we bump into each other and your reviews frequently have me in hysterics so no ill will, but your cryptic "you don't know what you think you know 'malty' means" is sort of #bizarre. If anyone who drinks 90 minute in 2017 doesn't think it's a shitty malty bottle of IPA garbage, I question what IPAs they've been drinking for the past 10 years. But to each their own - I'm not judging - this thread is making me appear more riled up than the actual complete and utter indifference to DFH I actually feel (except PSM, so yum!) ...
