My buddy's there with an umbrella. He texted me "FML, you know if it starts pouring I'm gonna have to bail out these shit head parents."

Trawling through instagram and I saw the account of one guy who got himself seven packs despite suffering a heart attack a little over a week ago.

    Go him, I guess?

There's a guy with a scooter who shows up at releases? I haven't been to Monkish in a longtime and certainly never during a release.

Used to be I go to Smog City then hit up Monkish but lately I've been a bit turned off by them. Yeah yeah yeah, more beer for all of you and whatever.

The drive just isn't there for me as of right now and this kind of culture kind of maybe plays a factor into it for me?

Looking at the heart attack guy's pic and I'm "You can do whatever the hell you want but also whhhhhhhyy?"

Although that makes me a bit of a hypocrite because I've done things that should've sworn me off of drinking but I always go right back.

    I don't know, I'm just venting now.

Looks like Monkish is calling out people parked illegally on twitter. The Mercedes looks like it's blocking in the car ahead of it. No shame in these folks huh?

Are you kidding? Folks will still find a way to rationalize the idiocy.

    Didn't sell out = -32% trade/resell value

It will also probably taste worse now

That is indeed an insane drive (in addition to potentially hitting DC traffic) for any beer.

10 years ago today, HSBC holdings, the world's third-largest bank at the time, and one of the most aggressive players in the U.S. Market for low-quality mortgages, sent a chill through the financial world with news that its bad-debt charges will be 20% higher than forecast... and that became the first canary in the coalmine of what would then become the worst financial crisis of a generation....

Could this also mean that a Haze/beer release bubble is about to pop?

I mean, it's all about market saturation. Shit. This weekend had, starting Thursday, Monkish 2 new beers releases, Casa hazy, Noble, Mumford, Mikkeller and now another Monkish.. which was a re-release? Not to mention the amount of drinking happening on Sunday, as well as Firestone Walker Invitational monday morning...

There's only so much folks can spend in 5 days. Monkish would have been better off waiting till later in the week to release this one if they wanted to keep that sold out in 2 hour window alive.

I just wouldn't stand in line for beer. If I stop by the brewery, and I happen to run into cans or have a pour of something, cool. But, in my opinion, for every can release here, there are 100+ good beers I can go and get on a shelf and enjoy. Just my thinking though.

Eventually the hype will die down and that's when I'll try these beers. I've had plenty of the style, but only a few of the Monkish ones at the brewery when they were on tap.

I don't know, just over trying to chase beers that I want. It just reminds of collecting hardcore and punk records back in the day and how frustrated I got. Was better after I stopped caring about having the rarest press of the record and just getting a copy that I could play. Same with beer now I guess.

If people are into standing in line for a beer, more power to them. I would rather just spend my time doing something else.
